2003 Mazda Protege5
I just recently purchased a 2003 Mazda Protege5. I can't locate the Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve Solenoid. I need to replace it, but just need to locate it on the car first, and also on a parts website. Can't seem to find it anywhere. If someone could post a video, picture, or at least a exploded view parts diagram with it pointed out I would be more than appreciative. Also if you know where to find the part that would be even that much more help. I've looked for an hour an a half online now for this. I am going on a vacation soon, and need it asap...since we plan on driving this car. Thank you so much for yalls time!

Search for VICS (Variable Intake Control System)

There are two solenoids on top of the intake. Other forum threads have pix.

You won't 'need' it to go on vacation - it helps improve upper RPM performance but in no way will harm the car not having it ;)

I hope this helped...

So just to clarify...you are 100% certain the two solenoids on top of the engine are the Intake Manifold Runner Valve Solenoids. I am not trying to be rude, but I also am not made of money and can't afford to be replacing the wrong parts.

And, once the solenoid is removed - make sure you can rotate the rod by hand (and that the butterflies are not 'stuck').
