Hey whatsup guys....I never posted in this forum, but I just got back from my vendor training where i got to talk to the Kenwood representative. Well we were talking about the new products and he asked me about what car I drive, so I told him I drive a 2002 Yellow Mazda Protege5 and he was oh wow cool. Then he said well I have to tell you something you might like to hear. hehe, I was like well what is it? The next thing he said, will finally put to rest all these 2003 MP3 rumors, haha. Well he said he has been doing R&D on the 2003 MP3s stereo system. He said the new MP3 IS orange and best of all IS TURBO! He has had it for the past three months, the new stereo system will not have a 'tube' subwoofer, instead the woofers will be mounted on the rear deck and the speakers in the rear doors. Also he described the Orange as the same as a 50/50 ice cream bar color with a white pearl over it. I also asked him about the turbo and he said it was supposed to be right around 200hp!! Sounds good to me!!

Take Care guys!

not to rain on your parade, but rumors have been flying around about wheter or not there will be a next mp3 and what it will have installed. and why would someone from kenwood know anything about the performance aspects of the car? if i were mazda, i would give them a regular protege to work out the sound system, and then install it into the next mp3. (if there is to be one) i cetainly wouldn't give them a test car, that i haven't shown to the public, to work out the sound.

oh, and the car you describe sounds like this one:

not to rain on your parade but i dont think mazda is stupid enough to produce an orange car. orange was a color of the 90's

I don't believe that either. Nobody (mazda employees/dealerships) knows much about the new MP3. I talked to a Mazda guy at the Detroit Auto show and he said there wasn't much information on it yet. He said that the color choices were blue (not sure if the same), red, and another color but I don't remember what he said.

Things are still in development and even though everyone says it will come out this year...he said he doubts it

Orange would be a nice color but too expensive, plus a turbo they would never be able to get the price around what we paid

hehe, alright guys I guess you can believe what you want, but I think he was telling the truth. If he was just a Kenwood guy he would have not known that it is was supposed to be orange and that it is supposedly a turbo. Again he did not know the actual hp he was just making a guess. Also I know for sure it is not that protege in the pix above. He said at there test facility they also have the new Ford Focus and some other cars. There were a couple other people there that heard him. Anyways just trying to bring some good news to everyone, hehe. Who knows I could be wrong, haha, I guess we will have to wait until the Chicago Auto Show..

Take Care

Jaime

It agrivates me when people say "new MP3"

There will never be another MP3. The MP3 was a limited editon car, 1500 total. And there are rumors that they didn't ever complete the 1500. The rumor is that mazda will come out eith a new protege model that will "possibly" have a turbo. The rumor is that they will show it at the New York Auto Show this month. I say again, there will never be another MP3!

To all my fellow Mp3 owners don't believe everything u read. How many times have we all heard "my info is accurate there will be more mp3's. I work there or my dad works there or my dog works there. Let's just wait and see. I should post all the other articles where people have said don't worry i just got off the phone with joe blow and he knows johnny cash who knows george johnson and he works at mazda and he said there will be no more mp3's. That is why this is called "rumors" when people are board they make s*** up. Even the dealers don't know what is in store for the mp3 the only one who knows Kim Yu foo and he lives in Japan. All who are with me holla back

"The MP3 will be back but not necessarily as an MP3 the new designation is M3 or Mazdaspeed 3 This one will be debuted at the New York Auto Show .You asked them to build it... and its on its way" -protegetech.com

It may not be called an "MP3", but it will probably be a limited production car with the same body and suspension as an MP3. I'll call it an MP3 on steroids.

BTW, search protegeclub.com. Several other people have mentioned that Mazda is making an orange, turbo Protege. This news has been out for a while. We won't see the car until spring 2003, last I heard.

See, if we had one BIG board, everyone would already know this
:p

I was at the Chicago auto show saw the new 6. I knew more than the factory rep.{thanx to you guys an girls!}.so no new mp3...mps er whatever, spotted there:confused:

I know the 6 is to replace the mid size 626.
My post was intended to bring to light the mp3 replacement{or possible new mp3} was nowhere to be seen or talked about.

I saw the 6 this weekend at the Cleveland auto show- it looks really nice- but the one that they had on display wasn't a working model. The most impressive car there was probably the 350Z. That car is sweet! The GT40 was bad-ass as well, but your talking about two completely different platforms there...

Well just to add fuel to the fire, I was talking to my Kenwood rep the other day and he saw the same MP3 that started this tread. It will have the new KDCMP919 for the head unit in it. Didn't ask him much else about it as it was his day off and he just needed some parts for his car. I'll ask him some more later this month when he actually comes in for his regular visit.
