2003.5 totaled

Yes another MSP has been totaled. My friend was behind me and ended up sliding off the road on a tight corner. Hit a tree and a cement ramp. It was totaled but only looked like there was minor damage, the exterior still looked great. Ill post pics and get his production # later today...

Not to sound like an ass, but this should prove a point in that thread about the handling between the WRX & MSP. Were the roads wet or something? How did it happen?

Guess that means you won't be coming on here anymore unless he's getting another MSP.

No it wasnt wet I took a better line than he did from the previous turn (it was an S curve). There was some gravel on the road but not that much. On a side note the airbags never went off and he hit at about 45mph...

Oh ill stay here I like the MSP and am still interested in it even if He or I dont own one

That's weird...I don't think Vic's went off either & you know what he did. I sure hope they DO work when they need to. All the more reason to get racing harnesses.

I think he is pursuing it with Mazda. There was a passenger in his car both airbags failed and the pretensioner (I think is what he said) on the passenger side failed also

What kind of angle did he hit the tree and ramp? I can't claim to know alot about the airbag sensors but I was almost sure that the sensors are located in the front end (engine bay area).

i had a front end cllosion in my msp the car goe in the shop on monday, to get fixed 5k worth of damanages, the airbags did not go off eather.

when i wrecked my first protege it hit the airbag sensor in the front but no airbags popped????? never even really thought anything abt it until now for some reason

One tree hit the right front bumper and the second hit dead center. The force cracked his radiator in half and smashed the turbo into the engine. The IC was perfect looking besides the fact that it was ripped off the frame. He must have bent the frame or something for the insurance company to total it...

Have you seen those types of accendents? Im not claiming to be an expert on the topic but most accidents I see at those speeds require an airbag. With the belt not functioning right on the passengers side that dash hurts....

What I mean is... how did his passenger and him do? I am assuming they are ok (I wouldn't want it to be any other way)

oh both walked away from it the passengers back is a little messed up. the driver has some bruses annd sore chest from the seat belt along with stiff neck but those things are to be expected from an accedent.

When I said they are pursuing Mazda what I ment was that they are investigating wether or not the Airbags should have gone off. From what I am hearing around here not to many people have seen the airbags...

My mp3 was totaled when someone turned left in front of me the impact was around 25 mph or so, the impact was on the front driverside. My damn bags didn't go off either...

the airbags have sensors to go off when the front wheels are pushed back, so if you hit the curb hard going head on, your airbags will pop out. Maybe the MSP was built to be a death machine, but lets hope not.

actually, I was discussing this with a friend of mine who works at the ridgefield mazda/bmw in ct..he actually told me flat out that he has never seen the airbags deploy in a protege....ever..
