2003.5 fog lights

From what I've seen, you'd have to remove the front lower lip first. After that, you might need some type of bracket to hold the fogs in place. Definately not something I would try myself unless I was sure it would work.

Mm, I love the 2k3 fog lights, I would love to slap them on mine too. Anyone have a set they wanna send me? :D

Joe - I've been asking about this also. I have a Blue 2003.5 and I pulled off those little grills and there is a threaded hole right behind there....not sure how a light would fit with out some kind of bracket. I also emailed mazda about them. Currently they do not have lights that will fit.

I considered some style of ram air set up using those holes.....

You could provide the fender well with a shot of cold air after you add a CAI. The filter could be in a spot that is in a stream of cold air.....and I'm thinking with a steep enough angle and being far enough away from the filter water should not be an issue. THEN you could use the other side to rout cool air into the engine bay.

that's, not a bad idea

I really dig the 2003 fog lights. I am going to pull those vents off today and see what i can do. fabricating a bracket for a couple of fog lights shouldn't be to hard. I'll look into it.

ok, i pulled off the vent and took a look at the threaded hole you were talking about savy, i think that that is where the 2003 model bracket attaches for the fog light. i also took a quick peak under the dashboard where the switch for the fog lights is on the 2003. it looks to me like the wiring for the switch is already there to. i am going to have to look around some more but i am willing to bet that the fog lights will swap right over. so, if anyone wants to give up their fog light system just give me a holler and i'll take it off your hands.

Why would you want to put fog lights on the 2003.5???
The reason they didn't put any on was to have more cooling. If you install a Injen Cold Air Intake, you kind of defeat the purpose of having it on if there is foglights restricting the air flow. If you look in Import Tuner, Super Street, etc... You will notice that most Turbo Cars don't have foglights. Hey the foglights might look good, but I think it would be better with out. It's just my opinion...

Hey I might be willing to trade my P5 fogs with all the necessary hardware for a 2003.5 MSP lower lip and grills. :D

they took the fog lights out to avoid looking like the wrx...again. I highly doubt that the vents actually have any benefit at all.

The vents are fake brake cooling duct. If you look around the wheel well and the back of the ducts, they're sealed. However, I'm going to make one of the duct for a ram air type duct for intake.

the driver side vent does provide more air for the intake system provided you have a cold air intake installed.

If the fog lights don't fill the hole completely then you would still get some air behind it for the CAI. Cold air intake is exactly that, it doesn't need to be a ram air as well. That's what you would be doing if you opened up the fog light hole. Normally, a CAI is routed to a spot in your engine bay where the air is cool. Hence the name. It's just a bonus I guess if you can open up some air infront of it.

from what Ive seen.. wouldnt the ES fogs fit a lot better than the MSPs? Plus dont the ES fogs have similar shape to the lip?

Hey if anyone figures out a good way to add foglights to the 3.5 without messing up air flow or what not let me know too. I inquired why the 2003 had them and not the 3.5 and still haven't got an answer that I will accept.

OMG 2K3 Mazdaspeed you sig is nuts!

this is something i've been curious about since the day I got the car. Truth is, the car looks great anyways....but I would like to have my fogs back, but not the crappy oem ones. I switch between the mp3 and speed all the time, and the fogs don't make a f'n difference.

Someone do this mod already :)

Just in case anyone wanted to put in P5 fogs, forget it. They too wide to fit. I've been wanting to put in fog lights since day one but havent't found anything suitable.

Aftermarket is the only way according to the service department at my dealer so that will be my next stop.
