2002 Mazda Protege 5
Five years ago we purchased a 2002 Protege 5 in Cherry Red and the seller noted that it had a special suspension and low profile tires and wheels that were part of a special "performance" package. It has a Green logo on the trunk lid stating "Performance". We recently filed an insurance claim after a car hit ours and the insurance company said they had no information on an package tied to the VIN. I find ZERO on it on the internet. Any ideas?? thanks!

Sorry to be the one to tell you but there was no such package offered for the P5. Did the PO happen to mention any specifics about the suspension? I'm guessing they installed lowering springs/struts or coilovers and used them as a selling point. As for the low profile tires, the P5 came stock with them. What is the current size on the car now? Stock size is 195/50/16 and most people will run a 205/50/16 as they are almost the same size but there are more options to choose from. That green logo on the trunk lid was simply stuck on. Does the car have any other performance upgrades, i.e.: intake, header, exhaust, turbo, supercharger? If it does, then these too were also aftermarket add-ons vs. factory installed.

Probably something a shady dealer slapped on in an attempt to make the car more desirable. It's not that unusual for them to do stuff like that.

All P5s rolled off the assembly line with low profile tires, and aftermarket coil-overs are a very common upgrade. Post some pics of both, and maybe we can help ID what you have.
