My protege 5 is now going numb for the second month in a row. The trouble started after I have changed my gaz tank this summer.
What it does:
First the engine went numb for no reason and gave me a P-0300 code so I had check and change air intake, cleaned EGR valve and changed my coil pack. It just worked for a week or two. After those change, when I was on the road the engine started buckling really hard but never die ! Also there is one important fact : there is no code now. So I kept using it to try to figure out more about it. The result is the car stall on the road ( engine turn off by itself) for no reason no mind for which speed i'm in and the speed i'm driving at (From this part I began to be real carefull about taking it on the road). The stalling where only happening after the engine was hot (about 10-15 min) but later it just went off and won't start back. The only way to keep it on was to keep my foot on the engine without letting it go to idle. Three day later I tried to start it and it just started like it never add trouble but after a moment stall again. Now when it stall the number in my dash go numb (number flash and change) and then a computer like sound came out from the dash and my brand new battery died... After that I didn't touch it for a week searching for a solution. And now I could say that I'm a little desparate. The car is in real good shape except for that trouble and I wan't to know or I'm goiing to have to send it to recycle... (I sent it to a garage and they found nothing...They say no code can't do...). Now sometime it start, sometime the crank turn but won't start...and when it start it will stall in no time...
Repair:
- EGR cleaned
- Coil pack changed
- spark plug changed
- New battery
- Air intake new
So I'm trying to see if you have experienced something similar and if you are able to help me. Winter is coming and the clock is turning I give it a try for one last month ! Thanks in advance for your help !
