well you should have put this in the car audio section, it would have gotten more attention there faster from the experts......I am sure there is probably someone that can help you...as we have a few pro installers here.....

honda audio

Thanks alot but, the link that you have provided comes up with problems. I think that I have the wrong format. Not sure

The Honda radio should have 2 screws that hold it in. There is a bracket on the radio that screws to a dash support. They are accessable from the back of the radio, they should be phillips and moderately difficult to get to. That is how older ones (86-95+) are held in. I am not sure about the newer ones, they should be the same.

Ok, here we go.... the spot where the 12v outlet is, u have to take a flathead screwdriver and gently pry it out, unfortunately u will probably break the clips. After that u look up into that area, and there will be two screws holding the deck in place, just remove those and push the deck out from the inside

Removing the factory headunit in a 7th Gen Honda Civic

In the very front of the center console, there are 2 clips, one on each side. To remove these clips, use a small object to press the small round center and then pull the clip out.
On the back of the center console, there are two screws(one on each side) that need to be removed.
Now you must remove the plastic piece that fits around the parking break. You need something small to pry it up enough to get your fingers under it, then just pull straight up. Be careful not to scratch anything
Once you have removed the plastic, you need to remove the two screws near the front of the opening you just created.
Pull the center console back some and you will see two black screws, remove these. Now, take hold where you removed the screws and pull this part out. It is held on with several clips.
Get down low and you will see two screws towards the right side of the opening. Remove these so you can pull out the part of the dash that houses the radio and AC controls.
To remove this part of the dash, use something small to pry it out enough that you can get your fingers under it. It takes some force to pull this out; it is connected with 5 clips. Once it is out, remove all the plugs, and remove the 3 screws that hold the climate controls in. Now you can remove the stock head unit and install your new one.

This works i also own a 2k1 civ

i not surprised that something as easy a replacing a head unit would be difficult in a 2001 civic. my fiancee has a black 2001 civic ex and i bought her a set of black altezza lights and black projector head lamps thinking that it would be a simple install. come to find out, the guys at honda decided it would be a good idea to secure the tail lights with a screw that goes through the bottom of the lamps. meaning that you have to take the bumper off to put the tail lights on. also, in order to put the headlamps on, you have to take off the front bumper. then i read the manual and i see that just to change the turn signal bulb, you have to park the car with the wheels turned in the opposite direction and go through the wheel well. its ridiculous and makes me happy that i didnt buy a damn civic. im just happy that i can change any lights or lamps in my p5 with minimal effort.
