2000 Mazda Protege Manual Transmission Linkage Question

I have a manual shift link with the 2 bars under the car. Is it possible to swap it out for a cable style linkage? If so where would I be able to get one.

I have a 2002 P5, with the manual transmission. Having looked at it, and into it, I don't believe a "cable" system is a viable option.

In my opinion, the bar style is thousands of time better feeling than any cable linkage ive felt in other cars, simply not worth and ive never seen one on an protege. What i do recommend is some new bushings to make it feel even better
