2000 626 ES idle stutter & acceleration hesitation problems

First all, hello to this forum. As my beloved 626 continues to age without grace, I suspect this forum will be my home away from home!

I was wondering if anyone had insight into an issue I am having with my 2000 Mazda 626 ES (V6) automatic. The car has 132,000 miles on it. About a week ago the car starting giving a stutter when idling. This usually happened after the car warmed up and would be intermittent. Sometimes there was one stutter, some times two or three in a row however the car didn't (and still hasn't) cut off from this. It happens whether the car is in Park, or Neutral or Drive. Just recently the car started to hesitate when accelerating. It's not a serious bucking but just enough to feel the car hesitate. The car seems to seems to shift as it always has and doesn't seem to slip or jerk into gear, so I'm unsure if this is related to transmission or something else. Any help would be appreciated as it seems that when I take this car into the local Mazda specialty shop it's about 50/50 that they properly diagnose
my problem.

I do want to say that the check engine light had been on for quite a while but the issue was related to the air flow sensor (ERG I believe it's called) and that part was replaced and the check engine light has not come on in relation to these most recent issues.
