2 weeks and still no fix..... last mazda ever.......

It's so strange how cars come off the assembly line sequentially- built at the same time, with the same specs, with the same materials, with the same tolerances... yet some run for hundreds of thousands of miles without a hiccup, and others, have all sorts of random things fail out early. My MP3 has 20K and has no symptoms of anything not functioning properly, where as my Integra had something break every week- hundreds of dollars in repairs every month.

I bet an SVT is the same way. Someone is going to get one and thrash it and it will never break, but some mid-life-crisis old lady will buy the next one off the line and use it as a commuter and it will inevitably die every two seconds.

I don't think every SVT is trouble free, or that every MP3 is a problem child, so be careful giving up a reputable import for an American made car.

week # 3 and still no part in site... they have an eta of the 26th for it now... but he said it rarely if ever comes in on time.... I am afraid of anything braking on my car cause it takes 4 weeks to fix it.... wtf is this about.. how about having a parts depot in Canada... how about that... honda and toyota are imports but at least they have part depots in Canada...... huh....

I am just learnign to accept it takes time to fix something simple... scarry thing is... I am starging to feel my tranny do the same stuff as before... I am afraid of having something break... I really am.... it will be 4 weeks again without my car again.. sheesh...

JC, i can sympathize with you. I have searched all over NJ to find a mazda service department that i'm happy with... the only one that i'm even slightly content with is 80+ miles from my home... too far... the dealers around me are horrible... never get a straight answer... never get any amount of respect.... they all suck... for this reason alone i'm selling my mp3 and going to WRX world.... the soobie dealerships in my area are phenomenal....

i'm sick of the crap from mazda dealers.... do they all take a$$hole training before they begin working?! Like you i have gotten hung up on abruptly on several occaisions and have spent easily more than 5 weeks waiting for some parts to come in because they were supposedly on back-order... at one point i was able to get my hands on a prts request that they sent out for me and the request date was almost 3 weeks after the day they told me they had ordered it.... back-ordered my a$$!!! So done.

a little reality, maybe?

Okay, I agree with all of you. For the most part. The thing I think we are all forgetting here is the human element... there are two reasons why your parts aren't coming in... one, your service writer may be an asshole. See, it's not the department, you just need to find your one guy that will take care of you, hopefully they have more than one guy... And two, Mazda is getting beat to hell by us for parts! They had no idea there would even be a demand for half the s*** that we all thought necessity when we bought our protege's (ie. the racing beat exhaust?). Of course in the current case it's not a performance part, but yeah, I would think a parts depot would help... but I think you need to get on the horn with Mazda. If you tell Mazda that their dealerships suck, they will fix it. There are people at Mazda whose sole purpose is to do this.

Of course, I even get treated like s*** in a service department sometimes...

Also, believe it or not, but you know those customer satisfaction survey's from Mazda? Well, they actually read them. Tank your dealership, give em s*** scores and Mazda will get on their ass.

But one thing is really bothering me... SVT? damn... apparently you've never driven a Ram Air Trans Am...

The Ford and Mazda dealer is the same person where I live... don't know what the hell you'd do then... going over to SVT wouldn't make it better... LOL... btw I haven't taken it to this dealer so I don't know how it is.

I have had two probes and never had any problems except for my last turbo probe (I think because of bad ecu mainly)also had 160,000 miles. The Probe is nothing but a MX-6 with a different shell. The dealer I bought my protege from in N.C., I feel like I bought a BMW. My car was down once for a cracked boot, had me a rental in like 20 minutes someone came and got me brought me to the car and all I had was to pay for gas. It has more to with dealership then Mazda.

of course, it's all about the dealer! Even Mercedes dealers are that way.

But anyways... I am seriously turned off by Mazda... by any dealer really... besides the SVT one right now... until someone else displays amazing service before, during and after a purchase... then they might receive some of my hard earned money.... until then.. the shopping continues....

OH, and if you think SVT will be great to you,

maybe you should read this thread.

svtperformance.com....../....

again, it's all about the people. not saying you won't get a good deal. sounds like you know somebody, and it works out for you. just saying, don't jump to conclusions.

I second that on the dealerships. I currently own not only a P5 but also a 1993 Lightning. For those that so not know it is the first Generation SVT lightning. Basically a cobra in a truck. If you think that you are going to get better service just because the dealership is an SVT dealer then think again. I am 100 times more satisfied with my Mazda dealer than I have ever been with the SVT dealer. I sctually had to go to ford corporate to get the damn dealer to fic a factory recall. This was after 6 visits to the dealer and about a month and a half of down time. that is pretty hard to deal with because at the time the truck was my only vehicle. BTW this was not just some little problem. The truck has twin gas tanks and there was a factory recall on the pumps and the crossflow valves as it would actually pump gas from the rear tank into the front tank. Caused my front tank to overflow several times. Not good sitting at a light and gas just start shooting out of your truck. And don't even get me started on the problems I had with my steering box and brakes. SVT doesn't mean it's a good dealer so just consider yourself warned.

I find that honda service, at least next to my house, is in a different league altogether from the Mazda service next to my house... The thing is this: I personally don't expect my dealer to do miracles, but I do expect them to give a s***. The message I am getting is that the only people in there who give a s*** are those in sales. BS.
