2 questions about the P5

I'm interested in the P5 and was wondering how does it do in the snow? I've heard that a normal P5 is fine in the snow. I really like those kits which make the front lower to the ground (ie. kind of like the 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege) BUT I'd imagine that you'd be plowing snow in the winter and the front kit wouldn't be to safe in the snow.

Are there any good after-market/replacement dashboards available yet? If so, can you post the link?

Snow.....the P5 is a front-wheel drive car with no traction control, and optional ABS, and handles as such. front wheel drive cars are pretty much tanks in the snow (that's good). No traction control or ABS makes turning and braking rather difficult, as it would in any car. Also, the p5 ppt (pounds per tire) is low, which is bad on slick roads. Get ABS (if you havent bought the car yet). NOt only does it improve braking, but its a poor man's traction control. But expect the p5 to handle like any other FF car.

In Canada the P5 comes with ABS. I'm in Winnipeg and found the car to be as good or better than my civic when it came to driving in snow. The bumper only looks lower...but in effect I don't think it's any lower than a civic. In a road trip to Edmonton in the winter, it drove fine over slush-covered hwys. Always predictable and well mannered.

The stock Dunlop tires are far superior in snow than the Michelin crap that comes on Hondas ( I have driven Hondas for years). No comparison actually. I actually replaced the Michelins on my Honda several months ago with the same Dunlops that are stock on the P5 (my wife's car).

I am from Canada and i drove in the snow with no problems I have p5 with all season tires and it is 5 speed, handels well in the snow in my opinion:)

The first car I had was a 1990 Geo Prizm (Corolla in drag) and it actually handled superb in the snow. I "towed" an ancient Pontiac Bonneville from a snowdrift with it. No ABS, or even rear discs but still was great.

The 1993 Toyota Tercel I had was pretty bad in the snow. The thing just had NO MASS to it and it slid all over the road. 12 inch rims and tiny tires didn't help either. Did 360s down hill for about a halfmile. Fun times.
