2 questions about the audio system

Hi, I just bought a 2002 Protg5. It's yellow with the sunroof. On the audio system, there is some 1,2,3,4,5,6 cd button to surf them. Also, there is some seek cds button. It's the stock audio system. Can I put 6 cds in the cd system???

Also, is there a way to burn a cd so the burned audio cds work in the stock audio system, because right no, they do not work.

If you have the 6 cd in dash then yes. When I had my factory headunit I just had the single disc. But there is a 6 disc.

So, how i enter the second cd after I entered the second. I do not have the user' manual.

Are you sure you actually have the 6CD in dash, or are you just looking at the bottom buttons 1-6 for radio preset stations?

I'm not sure... But there is a buttion to seek cds.. (next, prev , something like that)

If you have the 6 disc changer, there will be a small button in the top corner that says "load". To load a CD, push the "load" button. The display will then flash "wait" for a few seconds after which it will say "in". You can now insert another CD. On the 6 disc changer, the 1 & 2 radio preset buttons change between discs that are in the changer.

I've never had any problems playing burned audio CD's. It's not an mp3 player though, the CD's that you burn have to be able to play in an ordinary CD player.

I'm not sure about Protege5 but you could have a separate cd changer in your trunk/glove compartment?

Also for factory units you will have to burn your cd's using WMP (Windows Media Player) works gr8 for me! it converts music prior to burning (if it need to be converted) but you'll fit about 20 songs on a cd. Thats one of the reasons i got my pioneer, i could just burn music as file, fit about 120 songs on there =D

There was no outboard cd changer option for the Protege5. The unit has an input on the back for one but they never offered it in the US since they had the in-dash changer option.

You don't have ot use WMP to burn CDs. I have had no problems with Nero or any other burning software. Just make sure you are burning an Audio CD and not a Data CD. You can fit 70 minutes of music in WAV format, maybe 80 depending on the cd type. Use CD-R discs and not CD-RW.

Funny thing is, all P5 HU's have the LOAD button. The unit without the actual changer have a blank panel over the button where it has the Compact Disc logo.
