2.0 or 1.8 help

I can't tell a damn difference by looking at them.

Of course not, all the 2.0 is, is the 1.8 boared out. Yes there are other differences, but the Block is a twin only different on the inside.

And Dude your confusing yourself, First off you dont know that a Turbo Engine and a N/A engine even if the same Block need different intake set ups, you shoud know the intake goes to the turbo on a turbo aplicatuion and to the throttle body on a N/A. If you dont know how turbos work you should educate yourself.

I sugest before you spend any money Modding your car, you read some books & look at your motor more then 2 twice.

up to this point, i dont' even think he has such car...

and if he does...i don't think the mechanic who did his engine job was gonna be stupid enough to go thru the trouble of swapping motors...

this thread is pointless...

dude, just buy the MSP intake and be done with it...
if you claim you have a MSP, then you have the 2.0, then it is turbo...so buy the turbo intake period..

Only looked at the engine twice, what kind of nonsence is that?

The 2.0 is a 1.8 stroked out, I thought the bores where the same? I am sure I could just look this up and know for sure but what fun is that?

You know your right..Nice Call.. They both have a 83mm bore, but the 2.0 has a 92 mm stroke and the 1.8 has a 85mm stroke I beleve.

^I concurr... I had a friend do the required research to rebuild his 1.8 into a 2.0.

Crank + Rods

I'm sure the blocks are physically the same, no doubt in my mind. If you did get a 1.8 then you would probably be able to run more boost since the rods are shorter thus less likely to break...

Everything you bolted to your blown motor should've bolted right up to the new one... did you keep the turbo? -get the MSP CAI.
did you trash the turbo and get a new exhaust manifold? -get the 2.0 N/A CAI.

there is 1 difference that is known, the oil cap sits lower on the 1.8 than on the 2.0. and the 1.8 has 4 spark plug wires, with the coil packs being different.

otherwise, i declare this thread DONE

PEOPLE!!! this is not that difficult!

the actual engine for the MSP and the normal sedan(01-03) is the exact same FS-DE. the difference comes in when talking about add-ons. for example, if you have a turbo you cannot use the ES/LX intakes. likewise if you are not turbo'd you cannot use the MSP intake.

i'm assuming that if you blew your engine you replaced it with the same thing, which since this was an MSP, would be the 2.0. i doubt that you would have ordered a 1.8 unless you REALLY messed up somewhere. if you did by some crazy ass mix up order a 1.8 you will have some issue getting everything lined back up and all put back together, but either way as long as the turbo goes back on, you want the MSP intake.

does that answer the question?

thankyou! i didnt even think my thread would make two pages but it did and thats the answer i was looking for so once again thank you

blew engine right before i came to korea/ got it out the shop looked it over/maybe looked at it again before i got on the plane/ been in korea over a year/ forgot what the engine was/ going back home in 50 days/ will look at the engine again/ will know what i have then/ what the hell is hard to understand about that.....
