1st gear.

Is it normal, I run to 3K in first and I go to shift and it feels like the the tranny shoots the shifter out of gear when I begin to take it out. Hard to explain. But am fine?

I notice the same thing at around 3.5-4k from 1st to 2nd, I just thought it was due to the torque being released from the drivetrain and the weak rear motor mount, but i could be wrong, hopefully someone has a better answer.(uhm)

i feel it mostly in second and sometimes in first, i think its from the momentum of the engine and tranny rocking back and forth. As long as it doesn't pop out before you can shift it, i think its no big deal.

I've pretty much gotten used to my car (600+ miles) but I still have a bit of trouble taking off from stop signs quickly and smoothly :-/

Not sure exactly what I'm doing wrong, but I'm sure I'll get better.

you don't have the clutch in all the way when you start moving the shifter if it does that.

It's a little vague but you'll get use to it. I wish the darn thing had a Honda-Like feel to it. My S2000 was oh-so smooth when shifting.

You're never going to get a direct linkage, RWD tranny type feel from a FWD car. My RSX Type S with a short shifter and shifter bushings didn't feel anything like my '04 S2000, so it's not really a "Honda" thing, mainly a RWD thing. The two best trannies I've felt in cars I've had were the S2000's and the Miata 6 speed.

That's interesting and hadn't occurred to me. However, I'm pretty sure I can do a much better job getting into first gear XD

the op is not talking about getting into any gears ... its when you let go of the gas and press the clutch, it kind of pop out of gear as you are about to or in the middle of shifting to the next gear.

i've seen a a tread about this before, someone was autox'in and it popped out of second gear.

I drove my buddies S2000 a few times before I bought my MS3, he drove my MS3 and said the clutch felt a lot alike, he said it had a nice smooth feel to it, I myself could tell the S2K's clutch felt a lot nicer then my MS3.
