1k to spend on...

IMHO, CAI and Catback first. Personally I am going with the Mazdaspeed stuff. I have the extended warranty and would like to have zero issues with that if anything happens. Dealer installs the parts and you are golden.

A new TMIC sounds like a good idea after you open up the breathing ability. Then the COBB tuner and call it a day. I am betting 320hp for all of it. Maybe more, who knows!

29hp I think is what Mazda claims for the CAI and catback.

After that I would go with a wheel/tire upgrade. Stick with 18x8, forged if you can afford it with a 235/40-18. It will help keep the nearly 300hp to the ground. I am looking at the Momo Corse RPM wheels. 19lbs 18x7.5 and cast, but on closeout. Looks pretty good on the 3.

After that I would do the MS springs. They are designed to work with the Mazdaspeed shocks/struts on it and give it a slightly more aggressive stance and better overall control.

The brakes are really quite excellent for the car. They have plenty of rotor capacity and decent calipers. I would leave it alone and do just a pad change.

These are the things that I am going to be doing to my car (07 Cosmic Blue Speed3). It is my daily driver and I will do a few open track sessions here an there with the Porsche Club and maybe the Alfa Club (as long as I can keep them from running into me).

If you are going to track the car heavily, then everything changes. Coilovers will start to look real nice at that point.

down pipe and cai or jsut the full exhaust...the turbo needs to open up or else cat back wont make much of a difference

ya i think for now im gonna do the mazdaspeed CAI, the CP-E TBE, the HKS BOV, New engine mounts and a boost guage...then later a new intercooler and the access port.

Sounds good. The CAI is definitely the way to go

haha na man its not like that but im pretty happy with the factory system for now lol

<shrugs>

I'm extremely happy with the results of just cutting the airbox, having my engine remounted back in the engine bay correctly after having it fall out, and having the ECU reflashed. I can't find a challenger nowadays.

To me, the stock sound is completely unacceptable compared with my home system, so that was my first thing to dig in to.

Other cars, like my 91 Supra Turbo, RX-7, etc., well of course the performance envelope deserved attention. But to me, the MS3 is the ultimate compromise between power, fuel economy, space, stealth, cost, fun factor, and durability. The only thing it could do better on is be RWD or AWD. And I await that mod if it ever gets developed (in theory it could be AWD all too easily.)

Oh, now back to reality, I would say the best thing to get for your money would be anything that can help the engine stay on boil at the top end. I can't stand running out of steam early on, and would love to see the quickest, cheapest, safest way to let this thing keep up at the upper rev range, instead of acting like a diesel.

I should be getting my MS3 soon and will have a little over 1K for parts.

My list is below.

COBB Stage2 suspension (springs and sways) = $590.00
COBB SRI = $179.00
ProtegeGarage Test Pipe = 199.00
