Anyone tried 19s on an MS3? I have to agree with a bunch of peeps on here...18s with a lip on the MS3 look like 16s..kinda weak. Just curious.

Like these! would 19x8.5 fit the MS3 with 225 tires?

Wouldn't a 19 weigh too much? I don't want a wheel that looks great but makes my car slower and handle like chit.

At the very least you loose the nice ride.

My car rides the same w/19"s as it did w/the 18"s. And I don't think they are much heavier. But I just drive my car around town and that's it.

I think a 19 would look great, but like others worry about the weight. My parts department just got in one of the Mazdaspeed wheels by Rays Engineering and they look great. 18 inch but less thant 17lbs per wheel!! Pricey though.

Don't think I've see your car before, but really like it! Good job. (2thumbs)

a light 19 compared to our heavy 18's will make it go FASTER!

Sort of. It's also where the weight is carried in the wheel. 19s obviously carry the weight farther from the center of the hub. This affects rotational mass in a negative manner. 12 lbs at the center of the hub is much easier to spin than 12lbs 9 inches from the hub's center. Even if an 18 inch wheel weighs the same as the 19, the 19 will affect acceleration more.

Tires even more so.

how much is it total for the Rays?

retail for the mazdaspeed from rays is 550 or 600 per wheel. dealers pay 360 per wheel. i was drooling over them all day today. they are pricey, but rays is quality. if im not mistaken, they make volk racing wheels also.

So the hispanics with the teeny-tiny wheels have the right idea, yo?
Assuming you can get the big brakes inside. Of course you could put a bunch of offset on 'em so they don't go around the brakes anymore... (shrug)

Are you kidding me?

Do you know anything about the total diameter of the tire and how it would change the gearing of the car. Weight is only one factor.

Am I the only person that remembers when modding little Honda Civic Si hatchbacks when I was 16 that everyone used to run those solid back ugly ass steel tires or the GSR rims since the car 'felt' so much faster on those as opposed to 17's and larger.

Slap some 14" wheels on a Mazda 3 and tell me you don't feel a difference when the gearing becomes MUCH lower.

you would typically adjust your tire profile to suit.

Your rolling diameter would change but only slightly.
