1999 Protege knocks as i come to a stop/brake

hey everyone - anyone have any idea what this could be? Has been happening for a few weeks now. As i slow down i can hear a knocking coming from the back of the car. But now it sounds like it's happening throughout the car. ha, great huh? I'm wondering if it's something to do with rotors, or rust...something in that area. I'm actually looking to sell it soon (getting another Mazda), so instead of fixing it, I just wanted to be able to explain to the potential buyer what it could be (and also how much they could expect to pay to get it fixed). It seems to drive fine besides that though...thanks in advance!

mmm... knocking in the back end... it could be something like the rotors, could also be the parking break sticking...
but most likely something to do with the breaks since you hear it when you break... logical right? lol

have you done a visual check underneath tho? it could be something a stick too haha

I know this sounds dumb, but is everything else back there bolted down. My wife had something similar and her spare was loose and clunking around. Other than that, maybe sway bar links?

that's what i have, my spare tire bounces around all the time...

but with what he's talking about only when he stops... not really sure what it could be.
