1999 Mazda Protege SE
Hello
I have a 1999 Mazda Protege SE Standard Transmission, yesterday i went driving and it was super cold like -40 and i was driving through huge snow drifts. before i got to my house the car seemed to be accelerating on its own and when in neutral REV super high. that ended up stopping but after i got home i went to go start my car 20 mins later to leave and my car will not move! The car start goes into gear engine sounds fine not to sure what it wrong!! I tried to push the car while its in neutral but it wouldnt budge. I can feel the engine want to push forward no idea whats going on im thinking its something with frozen breaks maybe?

if anyone could give me any information that would be greatly appreciated
THANK YOU!

Did you apply the emergency brake when you arrived at home? If not, a caliper make be stuck against a brake rotor. If that's the case, there may frozen water in between a brake pad and rotor. A less-likely scenario would excessive moisture in your brake fluid, allowing a section of it to freeze and expand, causing the pads to compress against the rotors.
Also check the throttle cable to make sure it is moves, freely and is not sticking.

Hey thanks for the help!
My throttle cable is all good now, and yes i did have my e-brake on when i got home.
is this an easy fix?

I IMed you. Hopefully, you can either get the car in a garage (maybe jack up the rear with a floor jack to roll it in) or heat up the rear brakes, somehow.
