Hey all, doing my first tune up on my wife's new/old car. The cylinder 2 is misfiring (code p0302) so I'm going ahead and replacing the ignition coil since it has never been done. When looking into the compartment, will it be the coil on the left or right that will affect this?

Yeah, did the plugs and wires already. Do Mazda's cylinder's go from right to left in sequential order, or do they switch up? Thanks again for your help guys. By the way PatsFan, nice article on the EGR valve cleaning. Saved me a lot of time.

Glad the article helped. the cylinder's go from left to right, if you are standing infont of the car with the drivers side on your right. 1,2,3,4 Coil 1 fires 3 and 2, Coil 2 fires 4 and 1

Okay, now I ordered the part, but it looks nothing like what's currently in the car. The manufacturer part number is ZM01-18-100. I got this straight from Mazda. Do I have the incorrect part? The picture with the hand is the part I have received. The picture from the catalog looks similar to what the top view of the coil looks like that's currently installed. I don't want to take it apart if it's incorrect.

Patsfan4Life, I also want to thank you. I did the EGR Intake cleaning 2 weeks ago & still no CEL. Thanks.

Big shout out to onlinemazdaparts. They got the correct replacement to me really quick for about 33% off the regular price. Will be doing business with them again.
