If your Mazda truck was made by Ford, then it's probably the DPFE sensor that needs to be replaced. They are only about $49.00 at Autozone. There's a good chance that yours is the old style (made auto of aluminum) and the newer ones are made from plastic. I'm not sure where it is located on the trucks, but I do know on my Taurus, it was way in the back and a bit hard to reach.

thank you im goin to try it today what is a DPFE sensor and what does it do

This might provide a few answers to your question about the sensor. On my Taurus, I'd go through them every 20,000 miles. It wasn't bad, because the Duratech part at Autozone has a 2 year warranty, so I'd get my 2nd one free. People have said to get the true Motorcraft version for better longevity. The last one I purchased was off of eBay for $35.00, or so, and was new in the Motorcraft package. However, I installed it only about 2,000 miles before I sold my Taurus, so I don't know if the Motorcraft branded one would outlast the others.

Also, to get a better idea of what the sensor looks like, head to Google, select images and search for DPFE Sensor. You'll see lots of hits come up. You'll see the older style aluminum housed ones as well as the newer plastic ones. The DPFE sensors for the V-6 engines cost slightly more than those for the 4 cylinder engines - such as was used in the Escorts and other smaller Ford products.

Edit: I don't get to this side of the forum too often, as I own a Millenia and not one of the trucks. However, if you have further questions, please feel free to e-mail me. I have that feature turned on in my profile here.
