1996 Mazda Protege LX 1.5L MT
Im going to do an engine swap on my mazda and i was wondering if there is anything u have to change on the car to make a BP 1.8 engine work. My car is a Mazda Protege LX 1.5L stock with MT. Im asking for changes like ECU, wiring and stuff like that or can I use the same stuff for the BP 1.8 as Im using on the Z5 1.5.

Going to need a new ECU and wiring harness at the least. The Z5 and BP engines can both use the F25M-R transmission I believe.

No problems at all! the BP will fit in there with no changes at all, since the ECU im using is for both BP and Z5 engines, and the engine itself will be taken from a 1996 mazda protege ES, I've found out that the wiring is the same and all sensors in the engine will work just fine. I found that in a pdf file, so, research a lil bit more before u start to "give advice"

Thats interesting, will you just have to get a reflash on it? Was I at least right about the transmission bit? lol

what is the difference between the 1.5 and 1.8 engines besides the liter? how can i tell which one mine is? It does not have the original engine in the car.
