HELP! 1993 Miata struggling/hesitating :(

Hi,
I have a manual transmission 1993 Miata that has been running amazing until recently. A few weeks ago, I drove from Toronto to Florida (30 hour drive) and now suddenly my car has been hesitating. I notice it the most when it's in second gear. You know when you're driving slow but are in a high gear, the car kind of hesitates until you've reached the proper speed for that gear?! Well, it does this all the time. I even noticed it was hesitating while in 5th gear on the freeway. I have no idea what could be causing this? It did this as well while I was reversing in the gas station and it actually stalled. Could someone please give me some advice? Thanks sooo much!!!

Go over to the Miata Forum and miata.net and run a search. If you don't find the answer post the question in the NA section on the forum. You'll find the answer and alot of help.

hmm i had a car a wjile back that constantly hesitated. i found out there was a rag in my airbox blocking the air into the intake. you could probably easily check if you need a new airfilter or if you have something blocking in the box. do you have a CEL. or maybe it is a fuel pump going bad...but i dunno about that one

Spark plug wires are famous for sudden failure on Miadas. Mine went bad right after i filled up once. thought it was a bad tank of gas..

I ran into a issue somewhat like this, but it seems to be working better now. I was having issues on my start AND it seemed to lag a little when I accelerated. I changed some things up and now it does fine. (i say this because i figured it had to do with my plugs)

As for the having to crank a couple of times before I got a strart, that was noticed when I wouldn't drive for a couple of days or when it was really cold.

The issue with the start was posted about over at miata.net. Didn't know it was a common thing for a Miata.

On that note, has anyone had that problem?
