1992 DX questions?

I've found what looks like a good deal on a '92 Protege DX, and I'm trying to figure out if it's even a car I'm actually interested in.

Did the DX come with disks or drums in the rear?
What was the engine in this one and are there any cheap mods for HP gains?
Any specific issues I should look for when I go check out the car tomorrow?

Thanks a ton,

DX has rear drums and SOHC. They only came with like, 108hp, so I'd try and find an LX if I were you. You can slap a turbo on a DX, that's about it.

Thanks for the info. So, the LX's were DOHC? Hmm.. Is there a chart or a list somewhere on the site here that breaks out the various years and models, so you can see the equipment and features? Miata.net has one for the Miatas that's very usefull, but I've not found one for Pro's yet.

Thanks again.

How hard/expensive was that to do? You swapped the motor and rear axel, I'm guessing, anything else?

Thanks,

to put a DOHC motor in its a very very simple (so ive heard) allu need is:
motor
ECU
Harness

it drops right in.....im not 100% about the ecu-harness, dont know if the sohc harness-ecu works with the dohc. its a very common swap.

But if u havent got it yet, i suggest buying a LX, most of them sell for the same price anyway. Especially if your gonna swap it anyway.

the lx is the better bet, and would save u from a swap.. plus u get all the options available.. and as far as performance gains the stock B6 isnt worth it, while the BP lightly tuned in a 1g can be quite fast.. or there is the option of a BPT swap which would give u more than u could ever need.
