I have been having problems with my Rx since I bought it about 2 months ago. The car has 80,000 miles on it and seems to run fine. Except when you run the A/C. When you turn on the A/C the RPMs drop real low. When you go to stop at a light or for traffic ...It stalls. I am not sure what the problem is. I have replaced the BAC valve. Changed spark plugs, compression tested the motor, tried adjusting the idle. I cannot seem to find any resolution. I live in North Carolina and it can get quite hot here. PLEASE HELP ME.....ANYONE who knows anything or has any idea about how to fix this.....Thanks Friends

Try to adjust the idle up towards 1200-1500 rpm with no load and see if that will help, I don't think you're having a major issue, but the motor simply does not have enough torque at the RPM that it's idling at so when the A/C engages it shudders and will almost stall. The A/C takes something like 8 lb/ft to drive and your motor barely makes any power at 800 rpm.

Just a thought.

I gotta look at a manual, but the idle should kick UP when you turn on the A/C... I haven't played with a second gen, so I can't tell you what does it on that car... Buy a Hayne's manual, and it should be able to walk you through it..

i actually have the exact same problem.... right now my solution is to use as little A/C as possible, lol

There is an idle "kick up" on the a/c and I had it go bad on my 90GTU. You will probably need to replace it.

First check to make sure the connection to the soleniod is on good. You should find it on your throttle linkage. (sorry no pic on hand)

FYI - I dont have that soleniod on my TII right now I just run my idle at 900-1000 RPMs all the time and it works fine when the a/c is on.
