New to the forum. Must say great forum, i have a 1985 rx7 5 speed n/a. I bought it. At a good price. It will not run cept on starting fluid. The carb was rebuilt. But i cant seem tk get running. Can someone point me in the right direction on this. It would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanced

First of all welcome to the forum. Second did you check to see if you have fuel pressure? It sounds like you have spark if it will run on starting fluid. just remove the fuel line from the carb and put it in a bottle and have a friend try to start the car for a few seconds to see if your getting fuel. if you don't then it my be the fuel pump and /or filter. check the fuse to see if you have power for the fuel pump they are located on the driver side under the dash board. they are both located on the driver side under the car in front of the rear axle. the wiring for the fuel pump is under the rear storage bin on the driver side you would need to remove it to check for power. simpel question did you pull the choke out to start the car? the first gen carb cars all have a choke that is located on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash.

Yes has pressure new fuel pump it just loads up carb with gas someone said floats not adjusted right. Im getting ffustrsted lol i wanna drive it

New fuel pump and im getting pressure i dont know im getting very frustrated bc i wanna drive this thing sooo bad

look up the FSM to setup the carb replace the spark plugs with new ones also. carb cars flood easily.

Ive had czrb cars before this is way bad flooding. If anyone near me wants to help me ill be glad to pay someone

There is a window on both ends of the carb where you can see how much fuel is in the bowl. There is a notch visible through the window, your fuel level should be within the notch. If not then yes, chances are you need to adjust your floats. You don't have to remove the whole carb to do it, you can just remove the top section and will have access to the floats. Another thing is if you replaced your float needles with Gros-Jets (not sure if they are even available any more) you will definitely have to make adjustments. Ask me how I know...The factory manual will have the settings for the floats, I'm about 6,000 miles away from mine at present or I'd look it up for you.
