Yes. A 215/45 tire should only go on a rim that's 7-8" wide. Putting it on a 8.5" wide wheel would be pushing it.
Im still deciding on 8's or 8.5 myself thanks!

I know VW guys. Stretching the tire helps them a lot. VW's look nice with offset and wide wheels. It's crazy how a lot of VW's can pull off any wheel or tire size. It's like WOW.
anyone have these rims willing to post some pictures?
and does anyone know what tires you guys had the best life with? 235/40/18
I am wondering if these will fit. I have H&R springs on stock struts?

How is that rice?
1. The car is dumped so low that's it's effectively undrivable
2. The tires are so stretched that he's driving on the sidewall
3. The rear rims are MUCH wider than the fronts as if the owner is trying to fool everyone into thinking his car is RWD
I happen to be a former euro owner (vw) actually and i enjoyed the wide rear wheels on mine when i had it..although my staggered set up was nowhere near the pic above. VW's are unique cars and deserve to be different...who knows where this whole compact car scene would be if the old GTI's would have never made it over here. Just enjoy the sport and peoples differences in style.(sssh)its not rice. its just stupid.
