18 or 17, 6 spoke or mesh? help a fella out!

no i am deffinatly going to try to go no less then 48mm offset and hope to get a lighter and wider 17" wheel. did some researching in tires weights as well and the stock rsa is actually a lower weight tire most perf tires are 23-25lbs the rsa is 22... found some toyo's at 20lbs that seem to rate pretty good think i am going to try those out. if i get those enkeis it would make for a 7-8lb reduction at each corner with 225 vs 205 wide tires as well. i think that is going to make a huge difference losing that much unsprunp weight and gaining that extra width, as well as the lowering springs and new rear sway and front strut bar i need to put on still, should be a whole new car!

Have you thought about the Enkei's in the SBC finish like mine? They would look hot on a black car.

i thought long and hard about those wheels, just think i want to stay away from the 5 spoke look.... but i really like the ones with the lower offset that sink in towards the hub... hot!

It's not the rubbing that I would be most worried about, but the handling.
Since the stock wheel has a 55mm + offset you are pushing the wheel center outboard over 3/4", or 20mm!! That's a lot, and has got to affect the way the car handles, brakes and steers.
Then there's the weight issue (unsprung weight) that also affect the cars ability to make quick manuvers, loss of acceleration because of the great rotating mass to overcome, potentially lower gas mileage, accelerated wheel bearing wear and poor overall handling.
I wouldn't do that if I were you, tsunami. It's only asking for trouble... now or down the road.

they handle very well, no camber wear at all, about 335 miles a full tank to the low light, still brakes about same as stock and can accelerated just as quick as some of the msp's i run with here, not sure exactly how much they weigh but its a lighter metal than the stock rims. i have had them for about a year and a half now and i like them very much... but for my opinion on your choice i would choose the 17 inch they look more agressive...

(bump) cuase i ordered the enkei rpf1 and the toyo t1r tire from edge racing. weight for the set is at 36.1 lbs.... about a 9lb reduction at each corner iirc the stock set up is 44-45lbs... plus an inch wider... now i just need to sit around and wait!

COOL, Man!!! Did you order them in silver or the SBC finish. I KNOW you didn't order them in gold... did you?
And I see they have a +48mm offset too. Not too far off the mark. And weight savings!!!

BTW: What is the wear rating on the Toyo's? I hear it's kinda' low, around 140.

nah wear rating is 280... stock is 200... and i got just the plain silver the sbc is almost 100$ more a wheel... couldn't swing the loot.

The OEM Good-for-a-Year's have a wear rating of 240. Mine lasted 20,000 miles before I HAD to replace them and I was glad they didn't last any longer.
Silver will still look good on your black car. Besides, from what I saw they don't yet offer the SBC finish in your (our) size and offset.

the info i found for my stockers was only 200... mmmm wierd.... yeah mine are over 28k now and lets just say i am due for some new shoes lol....

i couldn't find any pics of it with the center caps on though... i ordered em anyways... hope i like em lol!!

edit*** looked it up on tire rack and they have a rating of 260.... ??? i dunno all i know is they sucked and i am happy they will no longer be on my car !!!

yeah still shoping around for exhaust, header is working great still get a cel that i will hopefully get figured out next week... (know a guy who knows a guy that can hook me up kinda thing.. lol)

putting in the lowering springs, strut bar, sts, and rear sway this weekend.

still need HID's, exhaust, grill and rear bumper.... and finish up my audio set up... starting to peice together a carputer set up... peice by peice lol
