17psi MP3

Upped the boost to ~17psi last night and tooned my carbs.

In 2nd gear, I can't even come close to WOT. Kinda dissapointed that even with the Quaife, it can't hold the insanity of 2nd gear.

In 3rd and higher I can put the pedal to the floor with no traction issues.

That effer is quick.

Yeah, im hitting those issues when im at 13psi......i can only imagine what 17 is like. Good to know its running strong (thumb)

awesome..... I also spin in 2nd at WOT, and sometimes lose steering control. New tires should help though, but I need the rims to come in so I can put them on!
I am only running 10psi.... could not imagine 17.... you are reaching the limit of the Protege!!! New axles?

Yeah, I gotta get to the track with it soon. Only thing that sucks is that I got new tires this spring (Eagle F1 GS-D3s) which are great tires, but they're hard and they SUCK off the line. So I'll likely be going for trap speed rather than time.

get some dr's and you'll be set, but if not, atleast see what your trapping at to get an idea of how much power your actually making.

If I get DRs, i'll need axles to go with it. Don't really feel like spending the money right now. Last year at 14psi I trapped 105.6...

that's awsome!!! you may want to get a boost controller like i have. I have the Blitz SBC i-D III with the Blitz PowerMeter that mates up to it.

you have 4 seperate boost levels and then can also use a speed map which allows you to control boost via mph so for example you can set it to use 8psi up to 20mph and then say 21-40mph use 12psi and then 41mph on use 17psi...

you can set it to any configuration and use up to 4 different boost settings...

This really helps with the spinning issue!!!

I remember hitting 17 PSI about 2 months ago. It was insane. I did it by accident. I had just reloaded a map into my E6X, when I was at a stoplight. I pulled out normal, but there was a slow car, so I gunned it go go around them, and HOLY s***! I was thinking to my self something is different..
(hmm)

I do it again, and watch my boost hit 17 PSI! I had forgoten to program in my max boost level to my boost control knob. It was sad, but I had to lower it back down until the bigger IC goes in. Can't wait to get the MAM SS kit on there.

Here is a comparison between my current BEGI SMIC and the FMIC I am going to so you will understand why 17 PSI isn't smart for me right now..:
