16 Psi

damn, thanks fede intaliano for the info. I have an atp wastegate actuator i need to install because my stock has crapped out. Also i will be hooking up a boostscience mbc when it arrives. I have a defi d-guage installed, and i'm boosting 10psi but get some serious boost creep. will the new actuator and mbc help out against boost creep or make it worse?
From what i read boost creep is not related to the MBC. It usually happens when you run too much exhaust gasses in the wastagate hole and it cannot close. You run the vibrant and maybe that is why.
They say that you should make the wastegate hole a bit larger to facilitate exhaust flow.
I am no expert on this so gather some more info.

however he said it was holding at 16 psi.... the spike thing with the boost controller makes perfect sense after reading your info, but if its holding at 16, wouldn't that mean the wastegate is different?? It would have to be more than just opening up the exhuast, correct?? Cuz no matter how high it spikes when that boost builds so quickly due to the instant spool, it would settle back to whatever the boost controller is set for. THAT is why i don't understand why he's boosting 16 psi steady after removing the exhuast.

BLTHLT: what is the compression supposed to be? and i have supporting mods: catless 2.5 from the J pipe back, turbohosed smic, injen cai, HKS bov. is this not enough?
HKS bov is the best supporting mod you can get. true story.

i love my turbo xs rfl bov but anyway. alot can blow and if it doesn't blow your engine will tire out really quick. i ran 12 psi for a while w/o any problems. right now i dont care or i am being lazy and dont feel like fixing my wastegate so i am running over 20 psi. my motor has apx 1 month left and is dying more daily. **i am trying to see how big of a hole i can make since i will be leaving the country soon and while i am gone a new motor will go in.**

just stay at 10 and have fun with it. btw i have never trusted mbc's but alot of people have had luck with them. i like my ebc for steadier boost.

ok i am rambling. happy boosting

He should not be at 16 steady just by opening the exhaust. That will cause a quick spool and higher boost spike in the transient part. For that he should compensate the gain % in the EBC. I believe 16 PSI is very close to the maximum pressure of our turbo and if he is at 16 constantly I am pretty sure that the wastegate is stuck open or damaged.
My 0.02

Our stock injectors can't push enough fuel for over 10 psi. Don't people get it. Even with EMS 10 psi is risky.

It would make more sense that his wastegate would be stuck closed. Who cares, this guy is an idiot. Not worth our brain power.

I have a Unichip, 2.5 mid pipe with High flow cat (2.5 from J then stock after Cat), TopSpeed Muffer, CustomMSP SMIC, Turbohoses hardpipes, Injen CAI, and Forge BOV. When I switch the Unichip to high boost it runs 9-10 psi steady. Is this safe???

I haven't heard of anyone blowing with the Unichip. The maps are created for the boost it runs so it should be safe.

Use the formula
http://www.injector.com/injectorselection.php

If they were not supporting I do not think that Unichip would have garanteed their product. That just a guess since as long as they sell I doubt they care.

You were right, I meant closed. If it was open it will not be able to get pressure.

Thanks for the info, that takes a load off my mind. I will get a full exhaust next year just to be safe. I'm thinking about the Magnaflow or Greddy SP2.

This is not a true statement. I run the MPI with the stock injection setup and it has more than enough fuel for 10 psi.

Yeah for 10 psi it should be fine but if you wanna boost more you would probably want to get some 440's. I was pissed cuz this clown is pushing 16 psi with no supporting mods. Dumb. That's cool you are consistently running at 10 psi. I gave up on my setup cuz I could never get it to run correctly so I ordered internals so I don't have to worry anymore.

Well I do have all the supporting mods to run 10 psi daily, though I dont I run just above stock daily on my EBC. I am going forged too soon then I can make use of this GT28RS I have laying in my floor!!! Anyway our injectors can run 10 psi with some to spare just dont get crazy on it. 16 psi is a ticking time bomb.

Why do people say 250whp is like the "blow-up" point for our stock bottom ends? I have a unichip and run 10psi steadily. Should I be worried? I could possibly be at that limit right now......runs great though!!!!!
