$150 ticket for "squealing tires" and illegal tint-List b**** tickets here

So there is a law against rice ;)

But what about replacing Protege5 with 323F or putting a Mazdaspeed badge on an ES that has a Sport muffler? And what about shaved emblems? Do you need something on your car to identify the model? Is this law in all states?

I doubt there is a requirement for having badging (the DMV/DPS has the make/model/year etc. on file with the LP anyway) but if a cop gave you B.S. over it, you could always say something like:

"Well my g/f (or b/f or mom) backed into a shopping cart (or garage door or young child) and cracked the panel... the replacement didn't have emblems..."

I guess... (uhm)

The book definition:
Registration plates: Any operator of a motor vehicle who shall willfully mutilate, bend, twist, cover or cause to be covered or partially covered by any bumper, light, spare tire, strap or other device or who shall paint, enamel, emboss, stamp, alter, ..... or add to or cut off any part or portion of a registration plate... or who shall display a number plate in other position other than a horizontal upright position, shall be guilty of a Class 2 Misdemeanor.

In other words, just place the damn thing in plain view where we can read it at least. And yes, you CAN get a ticket for those plates not in the horizontal upright position. Thats why you have to get the body work modified to put it on all kinds of crazy. It's because if it was meant to be read at an angle, we'd be walking around with our heads tilted sideways and you'd get that option when you bought your stinkin car.

ALSO, FYI of these:

Engine installed or body changed (more commonly known as engine or body swaps):

Whever a motor vehicle registered hereunder is altered or installed another engine in place of the original engine, the number of which is shown in the on the registration records, or the installation of another body in place of the original body, the owner of such motor vehicle shall immediately give notice to the Division in writing on a form prepared by it, which shall state the numbers of the new and former engine and registration. Whenever a new engine or seriel number has been assigned to and stamped upon a motor vehicle, the Division shall require the owner to surrender the registration card and certificate of title previously issued for said vehicle. The Division shall also require the owner to make application for a duplicate registration card and title showing the new motor or seriel number for the body....

Check with your local DMV on this one. But basically, if you installed a new engine or body on your vehicle (which has different seriel numbers than the one on your original registration of course), you are required to notify your DMV office and surrender your registration. They'll issue you a "duplicate" one, but it will have your new information on there. What this does, is helps track the seriel numbers from wrecked or stolen engines and body's. Most people should know that your vehicle's (usually boats, cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, etc.) VIN can be found on a number of places. One of which is also imprinted on your engine. If you change it out to the point where that number is no longer present and you have a new one with a different seriel number, than you're required to report it to your DMV. Your registration will need to be updated.

But I know... I can probably count on one hand how many people in here have either done this or know about it. lol

A large part of the problem is the attitude toward "Japanese cars". The cops here on Long Island have checked me out with my MP3 and then driven off when they see a 45 yo with grey in his beard!

The first speeding ticket I've gotten in almost 20 years was coming over a large causeway in a pack of cars. Travelling WITH the traffic (in the right hand lane), I was pulled over -- speed trap at the base of the bridge and given a ticket for 82 in 55.* I saw the cop's face drop when he walked up and saw me. He walked around the car and checked for ANYTHING he could write me up for -- but found nothing but stock Mazda.

* A bulls*** number as I had slowed past that before he could get a radar or lazer shot in the clear coming down the bridge.

I took it to traffic court and tried the defense that he had picked my car out a pack of cars running at a common speed simply because it "looked fast". Didn't work...but I did realize that by learning the script the cops read from that there are ways to beat the ticket. You need to go back (or even after getting the ticket) and write down everything that happened...and what you said/he said. Photos help, too. A friend was followed by local po-po and given a radar ticket. Funny thing, his detector never beeped. Took it to court...cop never showed and the ticket went away.

Officers don't use "bulls***" numbers; sorry.

Their off-duty time is much more important to them than wasting it meeting you in court because they made up a bulls*** number. You're 45 and you still have that mentality?

I have to assume you are currently on the job, t3ase?

The reason the speed number couldn't have been real was because it would have required him to be able to sight my car (out of a pack of twelve cars) while parked back in a stand of trees, get a lock and record the speed.

As he was handling almost a dozen tickets that session, it is clear that his job is revenue enhancement for the town.

If you think I was referring to your "turkey" comment, I'll take that as a "he wasn't kidding".

Wow.
Ohhhhhh....I get it (days later) lol. Yeah I was kidding about the previous part. Don't worry, I always leave my twin glocks at home when I go cruisin in the speed burnin' mad cheeba. Unless I'm on my way to hit somebody...then I gotta' smoke to calm my nerves before I cap some b****-ass.(gun)
