14" "Rims on Mazdaspeed

Well, I thought I'd try it today for the hell of it. i had 14" steelies on the mp3 for the winters. Fit no problem.

I've been dreading trying them on the speed because i knew they weren't going to fit, just by looking at the caliper I could tell.

And sure enough...they don't.

15's it is, and all my winters are going up for sale :(

Oh well, least my baby we'll get new rubber this year. I'd love to be able to find a nice set if 15's to slap on it rather then steelies.16's are too pricey here.

1010tires.com is where I got mine because it was during february. Tirerack should have some good deals on Pirelli snowsports, tho (that's what I'm using). They're damn good in the dry and good enough in the snow (I don't live too far south to know how winters up near you must be!)

lucky for me I get to drive my mom's car all winter long, so I can store my baby in the garage and not have to worry about the winter. That is just this coming winter though so next year I have to get new winter rubber.

Hey Newf let us (or me at least) know what you decide on going with for winter rims/tires. I'm trying to decide myself.....been checking out the "for sale" forum to see if I can pick up a stock pair of ES or Protege5 rims/tires for winter, but nothing cheap enough for me yet.

This is pretty funny for me. WINTER TIRES? WHAT'S WINTER?

Hey Pluto, just remember who'll be laughing when we're all zipping around with our winter "rubbers" on while you're sitting in traffic behind grandma in her caddy?:D

Oh, and I often laugh at the people getting a "cold" air intake --- hell, just move up to Wisconsin or Canada!

But, I guess you'll be laughing last because at least you can look at all the babes in bikini's while you wait for Grandma to park her car in front of Del Boca Vista.:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( If only I could afford two homes!:'( :'(

arrrrrrrg

I should move south

I'm trying to arrange to get some p5 rims as i type. But if it's too $$$...forget it. I didn't really want to get 16" winter wheels.

Hey, newf! Got an idea for you. =) I just mailed the company about this, but here's the low down:

I wanted a set of 15" wheels for winter, in a similar style to the Prodrive rims on Subaru's WRC car, or the 15" wheels on Peugeot's street 206 Maxi car. And I found the manufacturer!

http://www.teamdynamicsusa.com/

They sell Rimstock Alloys, and the wheel itself is a 15"x7" rim, 13.2lbs, and is offered in black, bronze (which I want), white, Ice silver, and Hi Power silver. I just mailed them for pricing, and hopefully I'll get a response soon. Basically, I did a search for the bolt pattern (114.3x5), then the offset I wanted for the 15's which was 35mm, then diameter (15"), then the centerbore (67.1mm). So, it looks like a winner, but we'll see what the response is.

Newf, Just buy another set of Factory MSP rims and winter tires! I just switch out the whole set twice a year. Why have your car look crappy 1/2 of the year!!!

Pmpkinhead: I hope your joking LOL. Because 17" wheels are useless up here, winter tires or not. There's not enough space around the wheel for ice. Besides, 17" winters...can u say $$$$$$$$

flat_black - keep me informed as well. I'm thinking of getting rid of the steelies, but I'd like to stick w/ my 15" pirelli snows.

flat_black -- keep me informed on the price too! Maybe we northerners could put together some sort of group buy for a small discount?

although winter sucks with nice cars, id never wanna move south simply because i love driving in the snow. theres nothing more fun than takin ur car to an empty parking lot with about an inch ice covered in fresh powder. mmmmmm im drooling over my erection just thinkin about it. cant wait for winter!!!

Looking through my e-mail, I just got this reply:

EDDIE

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. THE BRONZE FINISH IS NEW FOR US. IN FACT, I JUST SAW
THIS FINISH ON A PRO RACING WHEEL AND THE COLOR IS AWESOME! WE WOULD HAVE TO
ORDER THIS WHEEL FROM OUR FACTORY IN ENGLAND. RIGHT NOW LEAD TIME WOULD BE
APPROX 7 WEEKS. THE WHEELS RETAIL FOR $125 IN THE 15" SIZE.

LET ME KNOW.

THANKS,

DK

So, it's a reasonable price, definitly, especially for such light, nice looking wheels. =) At that, I didn't ask him about a group buy, but I will, if that's what you guys are interested in. I've not got the cash to do it right now, but I'm sure I can get it by the time the group buy rolls around.

ouch...I may just go with rota's for the snow, then. 125*4=500$+shipping= around 550$ 15s are 475$ shipped from Spoolin. Hmm...I'll have to see if I can get the color combo that I want from Rishie.

Which Rota's are you getting in 15"? I was actually looking at those a while back as an option, but I didn't remember seeing one in 15".

dunno yet, well not exactly...I want the 15" subzeros in royal steel grey for the winter I think, and 17" bronze or gold tarmacs for auto-x. It's still a ways off for me to save up the funds...so I'm just killing time now.
