Does anyone here really believe Mazda will do the right thing and update the software of every 2014 6 owner when the 2015's are around the corner and will no doubt be running the same infotainment system as the new 3? To North American Mazda, the petition isn't worth the paper it's written on, just like the infotainment system isn't worth the brackets it's mounted onto. A software update for this trash is a band-aid on a bullet wound, as anybody who writes code for a living would tell us. I've always known buying the first model year of a new generation vehicle is risky business, so as far as I'm concerned, I got exactly what I bargained for.
My gas mileage in my 6 is mediocre, the car suffers from an embarrasing level of wind infiltration, so the infotainment failure is almost a moot point. I'll wait out the next two years and trade it on the new Chevrolet SS, which I had the pleasure of driving yesterday, $1,300 gas guzzler tax and all. The irony is I never bought a GM the entire nearly two decades I worked for them, yet I gave Mazda the benefit of a second chance after two transmission/transfer case replacements before hitting 50,000 miles in my '08 CX-9, and uncountable lesser failures in that vehicle. Never again.
I can't be sure, but the wind noise is supposedly coming from the 19 inch wheels and just windy roads. I've observed quiter cabin when there's no strong winds blowing into the car. So I'd say it also depends on where you are driving. Nonetheless, this might be a big concern for a lot of us.
Coming to the infotainment system, I'd agree that it lacks the kick it should have, but it doesn't suck that much, it's not top notch but it's adequate. If Mazda does 'upgrade' the software and not just 'update' it, would be an incing on the cake!
motor trend had the car in its finalists for car of the year and they even slammed the infotainment! they said if it was the software from the new 3 it would've ranked higher.
Just paid $7.77 for snoop dogs voice as my navigation voice, it is gimmicky but funny. I will probably just keep changing back and forth when I have new people in my car, I bet it will become annoying later on but is still funny right now.
