1080p TVs are hitting stores!!

of course, if space is available and you're willing to do some custom wiring, a FRONT projector (along with a good projector screen) will get you the best screensize-per-dollar bang for the buck.

12' (that's right i said FEET) widescreen for about $2000, w00t :D

EDIT: oops people already mentioned front projection, just count mine as another vote for a 'true' home theatre :D

projectors downside is that bulbs are about 300bux and needs to be replaced every 6 to 12months if you watch tv on it.

I started this tread, duh!

you gotta give both the positive and the negetive. Its like saying you could have secks with that hot blond..........but you dont' tell them that they will get herpes.

If that was an attempt at an insult, I say go back to high school and try again next year, freshman.

Thoughts on that one? Sorry to jack in Goku, but out of the way peck!

Haven't dealt with Toshibas much since we don't sell them, but for $1300 that seems like a really good deal. Toshiba does make some good tubes.

...after school, by the bleechers...(chair). you and me Kyu...just f'in around :D...just wanted to see how far I wanted to take it...you're thick skinned!! (boom02)

As for the display, lots of good stuff on here. I've been a fan of the DLP stuff ever since I read about TI's invention back in like 2001. I haven't kept up as much as I could'a/should'a.

I haven't seen much improvement in CRT technology other than going to progressive scannning in the last few years though. I used to sell the stuff a few years ago and we sold a Toshiba 40" CRT...****** was like 300 pounds...

Quick and dirty pic of my screen and candy stand I built for my movie room.

LOL! Never thought of that. No it's our bonus room that we converted into a movie room and those are storage rooms kinda like attic space. Theres one on the other side with an exit sign too. Tried to make it seem like a real theater.

Haha I was gonna say that the doors looked mad short but thought that maybe I am just seeing a pic with funky resolution.

Either way the screen setup is hot.

My original idea was sink a 50" Samsung DLP in the wall but the tv has been on the market for a couple years now and the price is still around $2500. I bought my projector, screen, 800w Samsung HTNB, and a Direct TV HD reciever for under $2000. Now I get an 88" screen and a kickazz surround sound system. Post better pics later.

I'm still in the middle of construction mode but.....

Note, side couch is really about 8' from screen. Just a camera perspective thing. And the color of the walls just didn't photograph well either for some reason.

110" M2500 Draper - Frame still to be install...work in progress.
HSU VTF3 MKII - 350watt continous 12" downfiring sub, 1440W peak.
Axiom M80ti, Axiom VP-150 Center, Axiom QS8 Surrounds www.axiomaudio.com
Nad T773 www.nadelectronics.com
Infocus 4805 Screenplay
Cost? Don't bother asking. Lets just say, no new car for me this year...or next.

Still need, Plasma or LCD for normal tv Viewing...watching the news at 110" is a bit overkill so I want something smaller for everyday stuff. And the Nad might be replaced by a yamaha 4600 if I ever get one to try.

Looking good. I went with a cheap HTNB for now and cheap pull down screen. I was thinking we could pull the screen up when we did want to use it but that day may never come. I would really like to mount a screen. I would a place where you can order real movie screen pretty cheap and then I lost it. I still have some details to go through. And I know what you mean about overkill with the local news.
