will a 1.8L header for the protege fit the 2.0L protege 5?

yes, but your downpipe flange might be different, or only have one bung for an O2 sensor.

for the most part it will bolt right up to the exhaust manifold.

could you tell me if the egr location of the 1.8L is the same as the 2.0L?

the main difference between the 1.8L and 2.0L exhaust system is that the 1.8 has only one cat. i believe this cat is deleted with the addition of a header that gets rid of the first cat (and only cat in this situation). i think you would be fine with a 1.8L header, however 1.8L's get screwed over unless we go custom with a hi flow cat installed in there, or run without a cat and trip a CEL.
