So I just happen to be reading some stuff on the protege 1.8 motor, and how it has a thicker block wall and shorter and fatter rods that can handle boost better. Are the blocks able to just be swapped out? (2.0 MSP block for a 1.8 protege block) or would we need to also change the head and other components? I know we would probably lose power going from a 2.0 to a 1.8 but then you could easly gain the power back by boosting more (I think someone posted that the 1.8 blocks could hold up to 17-20psi). And could we possibly benefit from boring out the 1.8 block to 2.0 and keeping the shorter/fatter stock rods in there? Would the revs be quicker and higher with this setup also? I know nothing about building a block, this is why Im asking! I was just wondering if this could be done and could have its benefits or is it just a stupid idea. (cabpatch)
