1.6 degree Camber too much?

Protege5
I took my Protege5 to Big O and I might be regretting it. They aligned it, charged me, and then said I didn't really need it (which is another issue in itself). I took at a look at the alignment sheet and its saying that the front Camber is -1.6 degrees which to me seems too aggressive for a daily driver 130hp car. I want to make my tires last since it is a daily driver and I am noticing inner wear on the front tires which is what led me to take it in in the first place.

The specified range was labeled as -1.8 .2 which I assume means -1.8 TO .2 bu t that seems like a pretty big range to me. The caster is currently 1.0 for the left and .11 for the right.

Anyway, I want to go lower, like 1 degree perhaps, but I was curious if any other Protege5 folks on the forum have similar alignment settings or if the official factory settings are in tune with what Big O told me. Any help is appreciated.

i'l check my acamber at work for ya. We have the tools.. -1.8, meaning in your in negative camber obviously, isn't a huge cambwer, but it will be enough to wear out your tires a little faster on the inside.

I'll check what mine is and let you know, cause i'm curious now.

1.6 degrees is a lot of camber! You will wear through the inside of your tires quite quickly, especially if you have any toe in. Factory spec is somewhere around -.2 degrees, although you could run probably -3/4 of a degree or so with out accelerating tire wear too much. -3/4 degree will improve the handling a bit as you know. Caster should be the SAME on both sides! It sounds like these Big O guys don't have a clue. Hope this helps.

It depends on the tire really. Some tires like and can handle more camber than others. And at the same time, some chassis like more or less camber than others.

Take my Saturn which I autox and do lapping days with. I run -2.5* camber up front- which isn't enough but anymore negative camber and I loose accelerating grip and braking grip. I will wear out the outside of my compeition tires long before the insides due to how the suspension is set up. And my street tires show no abnormal wear what so ever.

You may want to post this in the Racing section and see what some of the autox guys are running.
