From launch how does cx-7 hold up running not to mention given the weight of the driver
im 5"8 240lbs & I ride with a bag o chips by my side LOL gota ge my snack on

1/4 traction off manual mode
1/4 traction on auto
1/4 traction off auto
1/4 traction on manual mode

As a rule of thumb, every 100 lbs of sprung is worth .1 seconds in the quarter mile. So, at 6'1" and 205, I will beat you by .03 seconds which is a HUGE margin. OK, so it is almost nothing. A single bad shift will hurt you more than trying to trim 100 lbs off the car.

hell I thought weight does make a huge difference since in forumula 1 is such a big deal if you are not within criteria spec according to them

In Formula 1, you are talking about winning a race by a car length over 500 miles. So, .03 seconds WILL matter :)

Somebody either on this board or on mcx7.com has a dash hawk data logger.

He was able to get a repeatable low 6 second 0-60 (magazines have been putting the cx-7 in the upper 7's.)

He turned off the traction. Brake torqued the engine to about 2500 RPM and shifted at around 5200 (hit the shift lever at 5200 so the shift actually takes place at 5600).

He didn't have an 1/4 mile numbers but I would assume a fast 0-60 will result in a fast 1/4.

i been doing tryouts from reading those post both auto and manual with auto traction off havent come close to those numbers yet

I think he might be a horse jockey and getting those .3 seconds LOL

Well, 6'1" and 205 will not qualify me for horse jockey status :)

Night time, 56 F ambient, so air was dense and the turbo works a little better. The 6.0 was the absolute best run I have ever had, to date. All four tires were spinning on launch. Have not been able to reproduce that run, as well. It was right after I got the ECU flash.

As for the times, you can get right around 6.4 to 6.8 relatively consistently, but, and a very big but, it can vary up quite a bit even on back to back runs. It seems the ECU is a little picky on the throttle hits. One run is 6.5 then the next, 7.5. You can also feel the difference. It is almost like the car is in a permanent bog for the duration of that run. This car really needs an ECU tune, badly.

If you are on an asphalt road, with the sun beating on it for hours on end, it not only heats up the air, but rarifies it to some degree. So, the turbo works harder and your intercooler is less effective. Then, I found it hard to even break into a 7 second run. Life with a turbo :)

Heavy i figured out something 1st my bad on any doubts
i did another test red light left foot on gas and brake at around 3000 rpm then dropped into gear and shifter at around 4700 wow talk about head jerk hehe im happy as hell now

Well, it's the Internet, so BS is part of the filter process. Hard to tell when something is real or not since you are not personally there. No, a healthy dose of doubt is always a good thing.

That type of launch is the domain of a stick and can break things in an automatic. I did it on my Grand National, and it never suffered any consequence, but I am not as familiar with how capable these cars are to tolerate that kind of a hard life.

As for the times, here is a quick summary.

Torque brake to 2500, no TCS, 80% throttle then move to full throttle, shift 1-2 at about 5800, shift 3-4 at around 5200 gets about 6.5 to 6.8.

Torque brake to 1800 or so, TCS on, run it up, same shifts - 7.2 pretty consistent.

Punch it and go with manual shifts - about 7.4

Leave it in drive and just hit the gas - 7.9 to 8.1

If this thing had a manual transmission, the low 6's would be more repeatable.

Left foot on brake and gas? What was the right foot doing?

And I'd recomend brake torquing over neutral dropping.

brake torguing: put left foot on brake, right foot on gas, car in drive or manual, press the brake hard enough to keep the car from moving while you rev the engine. Then when the light goes green, release brake and nail the gas.
