1/4 Mile Times

We should have a track forum in here.
Well I did my first 1/4Mile in the Mazda3. I did not plan on going so I had a full tank of gas, full interior, child seat, speaker box and spare. (And no that is not an excuse.)
I ran a 15.922 @ 86.69
And backed that up with 2 more 15.9 with one of my highest MPH being a 88.
Not bad but there is more to be had with this set-up. I need practice, I could hardly keep the tires from spinning, others had this problem to but not as bad as me. I thinking it might be my tires so I will be getting some new ones. These Falkens don't like the cold!

15.9 with AEM?!

Az, why are you saying it's not an excuse? I would certainly say that with all that stuff there that that would be a good excuse. Should be at least in the 15.6-15.8 range with an AEM. Aren't a lot of manuals running close to 15.5 stock over at MZ3forums?

I expect to be at 15.9 right now with my Auto w/a K&N Filter. Judging from a 16.02 stock 1/4mile that I saw before the crash. But won't be able to know for sure till later.

No it is more my driving than that stuff. It was pretty weird trying to get a good launch. No matter what I did massive wheel spin. The 15.9's where with a low reving feather the clutch launch....under 2000rpms.
I probally could go on and on with excuses, but thats not me. It is the driver here.
I do have a few things different to do next time though. Like take out all of that stuff, only have a 1/4 tank of gas and lower the pressure down in the tires. I just remembered that I just set them at 34psi!!!!
So we will see this week.
16.02 is damn good for the auto too.

Alright, I see what you're saying. :D

As for the 16.02 - Aye, it was fantastic! Gives me so much hope to break into the 15s ... makes me giddy almost. (first)

i tend to run 15.9, but i tend have alot of crap in my car

With my fiberglass box (weights a ton) and full interior when the car was stock i ran a 15.8. Also keep in mind this was my first time at the track, fairly new to driving a manual and car was stock. I really wanna take it to the track this coming season and see how it does with the potenzas, aluminum flywheel, spec clutch, short shifter, and AEM cai. i figure with all that stuff i SHOULD be able to get a low 15 maybe even high 14?????

I seriously doubt you'll break into the 14s without completely stripping out the interior.

I hope you do, though! Where did you take it? Milan? Let me know when you're going back and maybe I'll go with you. The best I've been able to get so far is a 16.2, so I need to try again. Never did get a good launch...
