Well I went to the track today, Mason Dixon Dragway in Maryland. I got to run Twice...
On the First run I got

.737 :: Reaction Time
16.47 @ 84.18 MPH

I have a few things done to the MP3 but I say for the frist time running at a Track I did pretty good.

The second Run I screwed up Horribly

.808 :: Reaction Time
17.31 @ 83.87 MPH

I raced a S2000 Both times... I had a steady 14.3 1/4... Oh well Hopefully Ill be turbo next time I get to run.

Protege5 2002

17.2 first run
16.9 second run - 2.4 60ft

heheh 1st time i go to the 1320

Just intake and Sport Exhaust..

My friend with the intake and custom exhaust got 16.54 with 2.4 in the 60ft

time

last time i got my car timed at the track i ran a 16.4 in my 2002 P5 5spd. with intake, cat back exhaust, and the Japanese cams. now i have the 10.7:1 high comp pistons, and the racing mazda header and a completely stripped out rear of the interior, plus no a/c or anything that goes with it, and no power steering or anything that goes with that either. i haven't gotten it officially timed since i ran the 16.4, but i raced a type sh prelude 5spd today which supposedly runs a 15.4 bone stock, and we were nose to nose, now the thing is i had all my windows open creating some drag, and he had his closed. i know he was racing because i heard him chirp second and we both reached about 90

Mac, Ive followed your work and it looks good, why dont you dyno it or post track times.
Thats the only way all those mods can be measured.

I do believe that macProtege5 can run low 15's. My bro has a 90 300ZX 2+2, when it was all stock he ran a 15.8 1/4mile. I know, i know he sucks, but then he stripped the whole interior and improved on his driving skills went back to the track. His first run was a 15.3@93mph and 2nd run was 14.9@95mph.

Mine

0 mph - started Wednesday, flicked through 1st, slammed her in 2nd.................thursday I finally hit 60 mph !

:)

I want boost!

I'm bored

with my completly stock mp3 i hit a 16.9 at 89.30 with apexi-i dunk muffler and custom catback and injen intake i hit a 16.65 at 91 mph

went to the track last weekend and got alot better times...
15.68 @ 90.71 MPH
and a couple 15.7+

These were from last year with my G-Tech and they were'nt to impressive but I think they are pretty accurate. Here:

0-60 1/4 mile

1st Run: 9.01 17.01

2nd Run: 8.98 16.97

3rd Run: 8.81 16.82

All the runs were pretty close as far as launch and shifting and I have only a custom intake.

Sweet! Maybe there is hope for our engines N/A yet!

The best thing I've done so far is Removed the AC and took the belt off the power steering, The car is a tank but it improved Accleration a little. But last night my Tranny locked in 3rd Gear for the 2nd time... Mazda sayes they'll fix it but not again after this one. :(

i think the best i got without my turbo was a 16.845. that was with my 2 12" jls, amp, stock tires, ummm.... injen cai, apex exhaust, stage 3 clucth and lightened flywheel

I give up on going fast. My friend just recently dropped a gsr motor into his 95 hatch. Damn! Before I got my car he would constantly beat me with my 2.2 s10. Oh well at least mine LOOKS better.

I am eagerly awaiting the oping of the drag season at epping NH!

dumb keola is your protege automatic or is there something wrong with it you should be running alot better than 16.8 with turbo.

know the P5 is not going to be really fast in the 1/4 mile, BUT! I will be extremely pissed if I dont get least a 16.0 second pass. My old 95 Saturn Wagon was doing 16.2s stock, so this thing better least get that. And at the time it had close to 70,000 miles Grrrrr

Grrrrr:mad:

Ive seen two Protege5 on the track:

1. Automatic: 15.5s @ 91Mph
2. Manual: 14.5s @ 99Mph

The picture above is the Manual
