1/4 mile times with slip

?? i ran 14.7 with stock MM. Its just real hard and started getting scary when I heard things thumping around. LOL.

Well the stock mount is a flimsy POS. Its okay if youre just driving around the block but when you start trying to test the limits of this car it doesnt do its job. Stock mount = Massive wheel hop, miss shifts, and a profound inability to put power to the ground.

oh i agree... the last two trips were so frustrating I really hope this makes a huge difference.

I made my best passes with the stock mount. I have the dogbone in it now and while it definitely helps the 2-3 shift, don't expect much improvement in wheel hop.

(shrug) you were right. I got back to 14.95 was my best run. I think the mount made it easier to hit the gears but my 60'' were only 2.4 at the best. I had one run 2.3 but I missed third gear midway. Dropped tire pressure down to about 20psi hardly any wheel hop I think I could have launched much harder than I was. I flat shifted well a few times but couldn't put it together all in one run. One flat shift to second I lit up the tires in second.

Please tell me practice practice practice will work (dunno) Other than that I feel like I keep doing the same thing not improving agghhh getting discouraged

Definitely. In my previous posts I mention that seat time is CRITICAL in these things. Just no substitute for working out the shift points and techniques.

The car isn't real intuitive to drive in a way to get the best times. You really have to work out the details and stick to them. One time you'll hit a powershift on the 1-2 just right - it'll "scrreetch" the tires into second and then hang on like a Lake Erie limpet. The most important thing is making note of where and how you shifted. I've found that making the 1-2 shift early really helps. Then the same thing for the 2-3 shift.... 4-5 and 5-6 are generally pretty easy and I just bang the handle at just before 6000 rpms. But 1-2 and 2-3 are hard to get just right and they're critical.

thanks FMOS
I remember getting outta first early has helped me in the past but this time i made a point to shift at 5500 through all gears and i was wondering if the low tire pressure hurt me as it may be more resistance down the stretch when the car really opens up.

I suppose now I know better what not to do ... still learning.

You have any suggestions on routine maintenance after racing...? Its tough on the car ... thx again

I've never been a fan of low tire pressure in radial performance tires. Never seen any improvement from it. I don't even run very low pressure in drag radials. Now my bias ply drag tires I'll run on down at 11 or 12 psi, but they're made to run like that and they're designed to wrinkle up to absorb the shock from the driveline being unleashed. Performance radials are designed to deform as little as possible, so they have very ridgid sidewalls and tread surfaces.

My opinion, these cars are pretty solid. Just keep good oil in it.

with all the mods done to my car i get no traction at all. dont really have the money to get slicks. i went to the track last night and got a 14.7 and then 15 something. pretty bad. how do you go about launching these cars? i had my rpm at about 2500 3000. and feathered the clutch a little but once i let go its just wheel spin till redline then wheel spin again in 2nd. is there a better technique?
