'08 navigation issues (won't switch into night mode, screen colors look same)

Two weird things I've noticed with the navigation system in the 08 GT we just purchased:

1) When driving that the navigation system does not appear to be switching into night mode even though "auto" is selected in the Nav setup. I can manually switch between night and day modes. This is annoying because when driving at night the "day" mode is very bright and distracting. I had to turn off the display last night when driving home. Any thoughts on why this is the case?

2) There appear to be three color options for the nav display, but when I toggle between them they all appear exactly the same. Anyone else notice this?

1. The manual switch overrides any setting in the NAV system for night and day mode. Get used to it.

2. Yes...the color options all seem to be pretty much the same.

Welcome to the Denso NAV system. The worlds worst and moust un-user-friendly NAV system available in any automobile.

Enjoy!

Sorry, but what do you mean? I'm not aware of any manual override switch. I have both the nav set to "auto" and the headlights are on "auto", so at night I haven't turned on any manual switch I'm are of. Please clarify.

Too bad about the color range, seems kind of lame!

Manual override is located at the top left corner of your instrumentation gauges.
You can see two dials. The left one can be pushed to activate the manual override.
For more info, refer to owners' manual.
If you don't have one (since you bought it used),
- go to mazdausa.com
