Hey im considering a speed3 and would like it if you guys could give me a little insight.

1. Whats your typical gas mileage? and distance on tanks?

2. The manufacturer requires premium but is it really necessary????? My mx-6 was recommended premium and i put premium in for a few years until i felt that i needed to save money while at school and when i went to regular i got BETTER gas mileage but definately less power.

3. Do you have any problems with the car mechanically or not? or any nitpicky things??

4. Does the cd player have any subwoofer preouts for installing an aftermarket sub????

Thanks guys.

26-28mpg mixed city / highway near 400 miles per tank.

Manual say you can run regular in an emergency, so must have a knock sensor that pulls timing. I would never run anything less than premium in this car.

No problems - no nit picks. Wait I have one. The shifter can feel vague on the 2-3 and 4-5 shift. Oh and I can't stop smiling every time I get behind the wheel.

Don't know about the pre-outs. As you probably know the GT comes with a sub.

Hey thanks for the reply. The gas mileage thing has me a bit worried in the
1$/L days. But i'll get over it.

Ya it has a sub but im sure it isnt as good as the one in my current car so i thought i would ask.

do not run regular gas on a turbocharged car! premium is part of the game and you gotta decide if you can afford for the years you own the car before you figure out if you can afford the car to begin with.

you will also void the warranty once they run an octane test...which you'll need once the engine blows.

Heres another

The US website quotes 20/28 MPG but the CDN quotes 20/30 ????

My guess is stricter emmisions, anyone know for sure?

The stereo has no pre amp outputs. What you'd need to do is use a LOC to translate your line level outs to RCA, and then run those to your amp.

im sorry but could you clarify what this means?

Does Canada go by the imperial gallon? Maybe that's the slight variation?

I've been scoring about 300 miles per tank with 2 gallons or so left with mixed driving with the occaisonal bout of jackassery. I am also having a tough time with the 2-3rd shift. It seems to get better the more I beat on it.

I get around 23 average, thats highway and city mixed. If i was real careful i could get maybe 26-27, but with the kind of horsepower you know your not going to drive like your in a prius. (drive)

About nitpicky, i have to agree with shifting into 3rd and 5th, its not terrible but it takes some getting used to. Shifting is butter smooth when you get it lined up right. Maybe its because i used to drive a 5 speed that wasn't short-throw, the gears maybe closer together on the speed3...NOT a factor that would stop me from buying the car again.

If you want bass you'll have to upgrade from the basic bose sub, its no thumper. I believe bose designs there systems to maximize mids and trebles, giving a clear bass note but not overwhelmingly deep and loud like most rap listeners appreciate...maybe they're still trying to please jazz folks.

like everyone said, premium is a must, but seriously, its not that much extra. most cars run better on premium anyway

Is it possible to take the bose sub out and put a 10 in its place? I know I have to rewire stuff and add my amp, im just asking will it fit.
