07 miata - trunk will not open with the key button

Maybe there is a switch or something that i'm guessing needs to be replaced if
the trunk will not open from the inside button under the dash or from the key button

any suggestions?

There's a switch inside the trunk to turn the remote opener (including the dash button) on and off. Check that first.
