All this is copied from www.mazda.ca It must have just gone up becuase it wasn't there on Monday. Looks good - I am excited about the summer delivery!!! They have also set up a forum on mazda.ca to discuss the upcoming Mazda vehicles with a Mazda admin. Check that out at http://www.mazda.ca/forum/eng/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=204.

Overview

2007 MAZDASPEED3

Set to arrive at Canadian dealerships this summer, the all-new MAZDASPEED3 gives sports-minded individuals the chance for a double dose of Zoom-Zoom driving fun. With its compact, lightweight body and maximum horsepower targeted to exceed 250 HP generated by an MZR 2.3L DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) Turbo engine, the MAZDASPEED3 will be one of the highest performance sports compacts with front-wheel drive (FWD) on the road.

MAZDASPEED3 dramatically reinforces the acclaimed dynamics of the original Mazda3 and delivers maximum driving pleasure through outstanding performance and a superior chassis. To create this new benchmark, Mazda looked to embody the following three requirements:

Driving Fun: Formidable performance from the MZR 2.3L DISI Turbo engine, along with sharply responsive handling achieved by capitalizing on the characteristics of the compact, lightweight body.
Ownership Delight: Exterior styling that gives an immediate impression of driving fun, and an interior with a quality feel that exceeds expectations.
Everyday, User Friendly Convenience: An exceptional balance of driving pleasure with everyday functionality and comfort.

As a result, the flagship of the Mazda3 range features a stylishly sophisticated look combined with performance levels that make it one of the fastest sports compacts with a FWD layout. MAZDASPEED3 offers truly exhilarating acceleration from a standing start, superior passing acceleration in the practical speed range and one of the highest top speeds in its class.

Exterior

FOR CANADA: THE MS3 WILL BE INTIALLY LAUNCHED IN TRUE RED ONLY!!!!!! Didn't say anything else new here (bulgy fenders, hood, etc.).

Interior

Interior design

A high quality black sets the tone of the interior, accented by red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, and the six-speed manual transmission shift knob to create a sporty yet refined ambience the hallmark of a MAZDASPEED model.

The instrument panel includes a matte black decorative insert panel finished with a hairline treatment to underscore the vehicles aggressively modern personality. A leather wrapped shift knob, aluminium pedals and stainless steel scuff plates further contribute to the sporty, high quality ambience that distinguishes MAZDASPEED models, while semi bucket front seats provide firm support to match the uniquely sporty performance of the MAZDASPEED3. The front seats bear the MAZDASPEED logo on the seatbacks, a casual reminder that this is the highest performance model in the Mazda3 line up.

Performance

MAZDASPEED3 A double dose of Zoom-Zoom

MAZDASPEED3 is outfitted with Mazdas 2.3-litre DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) Turbo engine in a front engine, front-wheel drive (FWD) layout that is targeted to exceed 250 HP. This not only makes MAZDASPEED3 one of the most powerful and responsive compact sports models with FWD, it combines this with a stiffer body shell and a suspension with a significant improvement in roll stiffness versus the current Mazda3 for superior Zoom-Zoom handling attributes.

Mazdas direct injection technology not only makes the new MAZDASPEED3 powerful, it also has fuel consumption levels that are particularly good for a car with this kind of performance.

Yeah, I am pretty excited about it. I am kinda debating between this car and the new VW R32 if they bring it to Canada. I just need to see prices/options/colours that will be available.

AWD or not.. its a VW! Mazda man.. stay with MAZDA! R32 is too noticable with the dual exhaust.. at least with the speed3 you can debadge the mazdaspeed and say you have a 2007 mazda 3!

An R32 (or R36) is going to be like $32k us, waaaay more than a MS3, not even a comparison IMO. The Canadian video is pretty bad ass, the US site gets a shorter crappier version. Not like it really matters though.

Man...Mazda Canada knows how to rock (rockon) the promo vids!

Well done (thumb)

agreed, that is like comparing the sti to the MS3. not fair. The STI in Canada starts at 48-50 grand....not exactly the same league imho.

Not Fair

I totally know that the MS3 and the R32 are not competitors in anyway, and especially so in terms of price... I never said the were equivalent/competitors at all. The R32, however, it is most definitely one of the cars I am considering (the 3 cars are 2007 GTI in 4 door with DSG, R32 in 4 door - if/when it comes to Canada - or the MS3). I know that they are all kinda different prices, but that doesn't really matter - I just want a low key killer!!!

I come from a VW background - VWs and BMWs have been in my family since before I was born. When I bought my Mazda my parents changed the locks on their house (just kinding by my dad was kinda weirded out!!!).

I have posted this pic before, but this is me trading in my 337 on my Dad's 330 (my dad paid me back the money for the trade-in and he took the taxes that were saved - the dealer really got bent over on the trade that's why we did it). I bought the Protege5 after this...

Anyhow, I would really like to stay with Mazda, but pictures like this:

R32_01_800.jpg

and test like this:

http://youtube.com/watch_fullscreen?video_id=aDF4wsxbMN4&l=541&fs=1&title=CarAReok 130i vs R32

really make the decision hard!!! Also it really depends on availability of cars and what options/colours, etc. they come with.

And the last thing that really nags me is the constant SQUEAK/CLUNK I get from my MSP swaybar - what is Mazda s**** the boat on this one too (not just the swaybar, but does something stupid and never fixes it). I have read the issues with the MS6's intercooler situation and what not and it makes me a little leary... I know VWs don't exactly have a STELLAR service record, but the 2 cars I am looking at are manufactured in Germany and supposedly are very well made...

It's all talk until the R32 and MS3 pricing is confirmed in Canada any how!!!

As per my edit on the first post of this thread:

sorry man, I must have missed that when i read it weeks back.

More bad news for me. I swore I'd never have another red car again. I've had 4 already. Red is not the best color to take care of.

Do you think that will be the same for the states?

one thing I liked about the MS6 was that it came in a few colors. Why would you limit your customers like this. It makes no sense. What if you hate red? I know people that didn't like blue ( they are rare but out there)and never got the mp3. Then there was the orange and around here I don't think anyone liked orange besides maybe myself but even I turned it down it down when I seen it in person.

At least have 3 colors to choose from? PLEASE MAZDA

I agree, I am not to excited about red. I wouldn't mind, but I am a much more simple. White or Silver are always my choices. I think the MSP looked good in that titanium color. A fast car shouldn't be flashy, it just attracts more attention. Unless of coarse that is what you are looking for.

Amazing video. It doesn't seem to have a 3rd brake light in the video and I hope it has xenons when it comes out like it had in the video.

Actuallly the last scene shows the 3rd brake light

Oops, just noticed I never answered your other question. Yes, HID with manual levelling is standard on Canadian-spec Mazdaspeed3.

I've also added more info to the 'wongpres edit' portion of the first post on this thread.
