Good question...My short shift plate reduces the throw by almost 40% while maintaining the stock height of the shifter. A short shifter reduces the throw and the height of the shifter. No short shifter reduces the throw by 40%. They cost 2x as much and take well over an hour to install by a person with good mechanical skills. My shift plates can be installed by anyone in less than a 1/2 hour.

Not with the kit alone, but a heavy shift shift knob can reduce the height by a 1/2" or so.

The COBB is the only STS that it works with only because the COBB is adjustable. It takes some adjusting of the shifter and the shifter cable to get it just right.

Actually, I got my short shifter installed in about 15 minutes

But these shift plates look top-quality. If I didn't already have a short-shift, I would definitely consider.
