Well here goes.

I have an '05 Mazda3 2.3L 5spd. At 96K my motor blew (regular maintenance etc, etc). Replaced crank and No. 1 piston assembly. After getting everything back in car, will not start.

1. Engine turns over by hand easily with a 3/8" ratchet.
2. Wiring harness was compared and is connected the same as another identical Mazda3.
3. Starter rebuilt.
4. All grounds check good with a meter.
5. Battery replaced.

The fuel relay is active and pressurizes the system. The neutral safety switch works as the starter "clicks" but will not turn the vehicle over. I also changed the connector for the magnetic switch terminal in the starter (as per the service bulletin in the link below). The original wire was so badly corroded that I had to replace the entire wire (with the same gauge wire of course).

Mazda Canada has all but told me to bend over and grit my teeth. I love the car but this is making it very difficult for me to provide a favourable testimonial for Mazda. I am getting desperate for an answer to my problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dan.
