ok guys, im new to this forum, i was on mazda 3 forums dot com all the time under same nick name...
long story short, just want to post up my car, and what ive done to it so far :)
I'm also Aiming for 180-200whp out of my mz3

2004 Mazda 3 Hatchback 2.3 MTX

-Fujita F5 CAI (thanks to KEN from PG)

-MS3 CBE w/ racepipe (completely catless)

-BSD removal
-VTCS removal
-Upgraded Side and Rear MM
-Exedy Stage 2 Clutch (yes, 3 puck :) )
-Exedy 13lbs flywheel
-Fully grounded engine bay, including TB
-RKM STS

I'm really hoping to reach 180-190 whp, and then going for 200, but I might switch to Weapon R intake manifold to reach that.
Let me know if you have any advices or questions :)
 
welcome to 24/7 lucas. let me know when you want a retune on that standback now that its fixed up!
 
ha mine is very similar! i drive a 2004 2.3L hatch, same color, even have blue led's in the footwell like you!

:) haha nice nice.. well i no longer have LED's. I took them out... got tired of it..
well good news.. I went back to Ken @ PG and got the car retuned :) runs great now
 
i know you were hoping for more, do keep in mind how low a dynodynamics dynograph is in comparison to the dynojet. it can often be much much lower than what you'd expect.
 
im still happy with results.. drive ability went UP A LOT !!! its super smooth and lots of torque :)

Hang around, this area has been a bit of a protege show for a long time..be good to see what the more modern engines can put down when given some NA lovin'

well this dyno was on dynodynamics.. so numbers are lower.. in reality on dynojet i should be around 180whp :) which is a lot better :)

except, that dynodynamics, if properly configured, are considered to be amongst the most accurate chassis dyno's available :\ they make little room for "feel good" numbers...

yea i know... dynodynamics shows TRUE WHP put down on the road...
i looked up online and i saw a dynodynamics of mz3 with Microtech standalone tuned at around 128whp.. so i do feel good about my numbers

I heard the dyno dynamics takes out 25% drivetrain loss, if trure I would NOT say thats the true horsepower on the road... thats excessive for a fwd car. Nice 3 so your tuned? What are your AFRs?
 
yeap tuned.....
i wanted more torque then HP.. so we tuned it a little rich.. on WOT afr's stay from 3500-5000 at 13.4 and 5000-7000 12.5-12.8

its still rich but i wanted more timing to get more torque

(omg)WHAT! 12.5-12.8 from 5-7,000rpm with port injection rich? (shocked) Man that super lean! Are you monitoring your knock retard?

you do understand that NA AFR's are different then Boosted AFR ??
NA loves to be at 13.0-13.5 makes more power that way..
i decided to go richer... 12.5-12.8 to get some more timing, and get more torque..
lol

btw.. u did realize what u said right ?
and yes.. i am monitoring knock retard... im getting 0.34 lol (aka road noise)
