I have an 04 6s with the bose system, and i was wondering if there is a way to hook up an ipod without having to do the whole soldering thing. I wanted to get the grom hookup but then saw that i had to do that. i have never soldered anything and i dont want to void my warranty and i want to install it myself.

Audiolink is plug-and-play. I have it and it works well. It plugs into the external CD changer port.

Edit: it was plug-and-play on my 2003. Just saw this blurb:

NOTE for 2004 Mazda 6 and ALL international Mazda 6: The factory headunit requires a small modification to the circuit board in order to enable use of the auxiliary/satellite radio port. This was not an issue in 2003 and was resolved for the 2005 model year. If you have a 2004 Mazda 6 or a Mazda 6 that was manufactured in Japan and would like more details, please contact us.

yeah im seeing that for everything that is "plug and play" and im not really seeing anything that doesnt require soldering.

i think i might get the harmon/kardon drive+play and ill just hook that up with the fm modulator. it says that it connects to rca inputs too can anyone explain how this works and if i can get the rca inputs in the 04 m6s?

and can anyone post instructions on how to get into the back of the radio for the manual 6?

thanks everyone!

Look at the Parrot MKi9200. Not only does it do the ipod integration, its also a bluetooth kit for ur phone...I just got mine a week ago and absolutely love it!!! There's an extra wiring harness you have to get, but I literally had it installed in about 15 minutes!

I could type up what i remember of it. It's not too difficult.

IIRC you remove the cupholders by pinching in the two sides of it, then remove the center console and the shifter surround (remove knob). There are two screws that hold in the center stack.

Let me see if I can find photos.

i actually just looked into the auxmod and that looks like it is perfect for my radio. i remembered i dont want an ipod specific adapter so i can use like pandora on my phone, etc. ill post how the install goes and how it sounds on the bose system, im pretty excited.

Was just going to post that the AuxMod would be a good way to go... Good luck on getting one as they just got them back in stock.....

does anyone know how long it would take to get here? they didnt really show any type of shipping info im sure ill get some though.

Anyone have the directions for the soldering? I bought the xcarlink for my sister's '04 and I just now remembered that part. I have no problem soldering, but it didn't come with the instructions. It says to contact RPMstore, but who knows when they'll get back to me.
