first off, let me say that I have read most pertinent threads on this, but I really am looking for some clarification on some things.
the story as follows, we bought my wife an 04 m3s last fall to replace her current car that was hitting high miles (235k)
we got the car at a really good price, but soon after found out that it had major trans issues, staying in limp mode, not registering when put in "park", not going into reverse, hard shifts and such. the cel and trans lights both popped on as we were bringing the car home, but reg scanners from advanced (closest auto parts store) revealed no codes.
now, we bought the car from a private owner, who (obviously) became impossible to reach again.... so we're stuck with the car.
I bought a used trans from a salvage yard, that tested perfect, had it installed with new fluids and seals. the car runs great... for a day.
then the same lights come back up, and the car is back in limp mode. but at least it shifts good into park/reverse. and we know the trans is good as the mechanic gave it a good examination prior to installing it.
we did not change any of the sensors, thinking they should be good as they tested good.
so, should I just go ahead and replace all the sensors (I know, I should have done this anyways, I just was taking the mechanics's advice...) or should I piece meal it and change 1 at a time to isolate the problem ? and if so, which sensor should I start with ?
also, if, as Ive read, it could be related to a wiring problem, how would I go about finding that out ?
the mechanic is no longer willing to work on the car, so Im kind of stuck doing this on my own as there isnt a mazda dealer anywhere local.
