they are both good cars all around, pick the one that's more appealing to you, but im a bmw person. e46 kicks butt, and a fun car on the track because the brakes dont overheat on you, and it's easy to drift in and spinout in. if you dont end up getting it, you can go to bmw plant in south carolina and drive the m3 and m5 on their race track and learn how to drift, do donuts, and alot of other coo things for a pretty pennie(i paid $600 and i have a relative that works at the facility, and i think it's somewhere around $1400 to $1500 for 2 days, racing helmet, gear, and some posters and decals.
